Semogue 2000

I did purchased the Semogue 2000 boar brush about a month.I have never tried a boar brush before, only badger.I thought that boar brushes were not as good and luxurious as badger brushes, how wrong I was!Now Im totally sold to boar brushes and I cant think in going back to badger for a long time, either spend the money that I used to spend on badger brushes.

Quality:this brush is really well made.Semogue are still making quality brushes and you dont have the feeling of something "cheap" on your hands.I really like the handle, its heavy and gives you a great grip.

Balance:Its well balance.Havent had a problem with it.Works well on face lathering and bowl lathering.

Density:Its dense and well pack. Its not a big shedder either, once in a while a hair, but thats all.

Luxury factor:The brush cost 11,95 euros but I dont have the feeling of having a cheap brush, actually I consider this a bargain for its price. As I have wrote before is well made and you have the feeling of having a quality brush on your hands.

Ease of lather:It took like 15 days to "break" but now makes tons and tons of lather.I have used it with shaving sticks, tallow and glycerin based soaps and as the 1305 performs great.Soft tips, not floppy at all with a nice backbone.

Price:11,95 is a steal for this brush.I like its design and how performs so this is truly a hidden gem.

Im just sold to boar brushes and sometimes I wonder why we have to paid 4 or 5 times more for badger brushes that performs as good as the Semogues boar brushes. Now I will go for an Omega.
Greetings to all.

A very good review of a great brush!

My post here did not include any rating or review of the brush and one of the mods asked me edit it. I admit that my post here was chatter (albeit enthusiastic chatter).
So:

I give it a '9' for quality only because there's always room for improvement. I like the solid wood handle here a lot, it's very dense and feels really comfortable in the hand. It's thickly sealed and will never let any water in from the outside of the handle. It feels good in the hand, and it's not as big as it looks in the pics; it's just right.

For balance a '9' as well; easy to maneuver and you won't tire of whipping up some lather in a bowl if you so desire such methods.

For density, though, you have to give it a '10'; you can't pack boar in there any thicker than this; when the knot blooms it's actually bigger than the Omega 48 Pro, and that's big. The loft is not as much but the bloom of the knot very much is.

For luxury, I give it a 6; now that's not a bad thing, it's a GOOD thing. This is a working tool, and it looks like it, and its point is to take care of business, its point is not to look great on a glass shelf with a light beaming on it to reveal its intricacies. But the FEEL of it, well, if you close your eyes the feel is every bit as luxurious as any brush at any price.

Ease of lather is a 10 with soaps and 8 with creams, so I give it a 9 there as well.

And for price, it's one of the best values in boar, a 10.

This is a must have brush for any boar aficionado; and this is BOAR, it's not hog bristle, like most brushes that most people have tried; when we speak of Omegas for example we call them all boar yet they are mostly hog bristle. This brush of boar will take longer to break in than the Omegas and will not be as soft for a while, (and it stinks very badly when new) but it will get there.

What I like most about this brush, though, is that it's made with love by someone who loves making brushes, and you can actually feel that come through when you use it; though you can't put a price on that, this brush should still sell for twice as much as it currently does.

What a brush this is!

I got my 2000 today and HAD to try it out. A full, big boar knot and easy to hang on to handle. This brush is fabulous for the money! It will continue to break in and bloom out in shaves to come. I gave it the usual initial soak and wash out with one of my fav shave soaps, soaked it up again and did some skin lathering. No shedding and holds plenty of water. A real gem!
