Mediocre because of poor lather. Even adding the Palmolive didn't improve things. That B&B brush soaks up a lot of water, even if I am just rinsing it under the tap prior to loading the soap on it! Have to keep that in mind when I try and use it with a soap again.

Soap of the Day - Honey Bee Spa Almond

Result - 4.6/5.0 I didn't shave yesterday so the first pass had some tugging going on with a new Derby in the Futur. I put about 1/2 tsp. of glycerin right into the lather bowl between each pass and that seemed to help the beard and the lather richness.

at first I thought the blade was cr*p and while rinsing I thought of it as a mediocre shave. After applying the ASB though, everything was smooth, 100% BBS and it still is now - nearly 8 hours afterwards. So, instead of being a mediocre shave it turned out to be a GREAT one :D

Tried some SSC Bay w/Twist EDT

Result: 4.4/5.0 I tiny peep from the alum block.

Other Note: I need to put the SSC Bay w/Twist into a different bottle. The spray puts out way too much and almost gagged everyone in the room.:D If I take the top off and just wet the tip of my finger and then apply to my neck it smelled much much better. Ahhhh...bay rum

Mama Bear Eucalyptus Soap + 4 Drops Olbas Oil + 1/2 teaspoon glycerin + Proraso Green. Finished my face off with Proraso Pre-Post. I nearly froze my face off. Oh, I can't tell you how much lather I ended up with.

Olagalla Bay Rum Cologne - Different from the aftershave. (a little softer) Not as much staying power but very nice.

Gotta say, I like the Booster Bay Rum. As far as the scent, its in the candy-sweet style Bay Rum category with Master's & Gabel's, with a touch of smooth cork. Very nice, I like this one. And, the Booster aftershaves seem to have excellent skincare qualities with high levels of moisturizers. What I can't comment on is longevity, since I do a cold-rinse after the splash has settled on my face for a 1/2 minute.

Thanks, bud. I'm in the 'meh' category with this one myself. It does a nice job as a splash, but the scent leaves me cold. I do like that it doesn't sting as much as other splashes, even though it is alcohol-based.

This morning was my first run with the new Duke 2. I was a bit concerned with this brush being so much smaller than my existing gear but, I quickly found out how much this little Duke rocks! Nice and dense little scrubby and lathers on the face perfectly with the soap. Definately a keeper!

Thanks Joe, Provence Sante sure is awesome stuff. I can't really tell you much about the availability of the Calendula balm. It is on the Provence Sante website and 1001seife carries a chamomile and calendula aftershave lotion, but none of the more familiar US vendors seem to carry this product yet. My girlfriend picked a bottle up for me last year, but she's remaining tight lipped about the source(anything to keep the balance of power in our relationship in her favour;) )
As far as performance goes it is a fine product. Fairly light chamomile scent and a very fluid texture. You only need a little bit, otherwise it can be a bit greasy, but it absorbs quickly enough. Very moisturising and soothing, definitely worthy of bearing the Provence Sante name.

Result:
Didn't lather up like I wanted. Need to play with it. Smell is indifferent. Glide was better than average but cushion could have been better. I still ended up with a 4.6/5.0 shave. My technique is definitely improving since I am getting 4+ shaves consistently with no cuts or weepers in 3 weeks. I might dial the Futur up a notch soon.

This morning was my first run with the new Duke 2. I was a bit concerned with this brush being so much smaller than my existing gear but, I quickly found out how much this little Duke rocks! Nice and dense little scrubby and lathers on the face perfectly with the soap. Definately a keeper!

I have both a D1 and a D2. Excellent brushes for soaps I don't use them as much as I should......the main reason being the fact that Simpsons recommend a painting motion rather than circulsr scrubbing ..which I prefer.

Most definitely denser than the 3124, but it does splay out quite a bit with pressure (which a SR 3xxx will NEVER do). I think I recall you not liking the C&E Super, which also splays out quite a bit. So just be aware of that before you throw down the dough. "Splaying" has become a quality I enjoy in a brush (not for every day use), but for a different kind of luxury than you get with a SR 3xxx

Mistake Of The Day

I was so impressed with the results I got last week with my Gillette Slim that I dug up… gasp… my other adjustable: the Vision 2000. That’s official, I hate Merkur.

I did not even finish the first pass and grabbed my 1968 Wilkinson. All went fairly well until the pass ATG on the most problematic moustache area. That’s official: I prefer the Gillette Slim. However, the Wilkinson will remain on the stand. It’s just too beautiful.

The Feather AC was reliable as always. Damn, I want the non-folding one.

Got a '71 Gillette Adjustable in a trade... for me, performs just like my '66 Slim Adjustable (3/5/7 for 3 passes). But I like the black handle better. ;)

Still can't get used to how much my B&B finest repels water. Rinse it off and give it a single shake, and it immediately blooms to full area, looking as dry as if it was sitting out for a week. Really strange.
