Speeding up razor burn healing

I have razor burn issues around the corner of my mouth.

I didn't shave on Saturday to try and let it heal, but that didn't do it totally. And I'm in the kind of job where I really can't not shave.

Any ideas on what's best to speed up the healing? Aloe vera gel is one thing I've tried, and it seems to help a bit, but it's not as quick as I would like.

Witch Hazel gets rid of my burns.

If I get irritation I put on after a shave with an ASB then again at night with an ASB and so far have had great results.

Alcohol based aftershave. Burns the Burn out real quick like. seriously it does. If for somereason my face is burning I put some pinaud clubman on it and wow. razor burn is gone. I will wait till the sting is gone, and then put on another application of the stuff. That usually takes care of it for me.

put some Neosporin on it b4 bed.
Heals most spots on me by the morning.
I've also had good results with different baby rash treatments...
Aveeno comes to mind for some reason (found some it the back recesses of my bathroom cabinet awhile back)

Alcohol as splash, and shave a little easier in that area for the next few... maybe less passes, until it heals.

I went from a Swedish Gillette to an IP yesterday and it helped a lot.

It was interesting, because my razor burn wasn't getting worse with the SG, it was actually healing very slowly, but using the IP gave my skin the chance it needed.

The Derby gave me the razor burn in the first place. Something about three piece razors and blades...all my three pieces give me aggressive shaving, while all the TTOs I've tried have been smooth like butter.

This does the trick for me as well, and lately I have been rinsing it off so as not to dry the skin...and then a splash of witch hazel.

Picked up some Polysporin. Apparently Neosporin is not sold in Canada. Huh. Anyway, the burn has mostly gone now (after a week!). Thanks for all the tips, gents. This area of my face is always going to be a potential problem while I shave. ::

the best cure for any razor burn, to me anyway, is Anherb aftershave balm, or gel. I never saw anything else that can kill an irritation or a burn so fast.

Regardless of what you apply, you cannot speed up the healing. Aloe will do as well as anything. Time is what works.

with continual use (weeks) and generally with more powerful formula (not 1% w/o prescription) yes, that may be true. Following the directions on the tube from a non-prescription strength product, you should be fine. Also, the thinning effects reverse, but again, if you are putting high strength topical steroids on your face for weeks on end, one should probably get the hint and grow back that beard!!! :D :D :D

Hydrocortizone 1% ointment is about as harmless as it gets, YMMV. Anyway, worked for me for a couple of days after getting used to DE/wetshaving.

that depends. If what you are going to apply will reduce irritation or microbial growth (neosporin, et al), then it stands to reason IMHO that it will speed up healing, aloe too for that matter.....

anyways, YMMV....... Just what works for me (insert favorite disclaimer here)

I know it's a male thing to 'conquer' equipment, but if the 3 pieces are that aggressive, you definitely want to use a milder blade when using one-probably why the IP fit the bill. Then again, shave more with the TTO and save the 3 piece for a once per week usage.

Seriously, it's a good point. And I'm not sure it's aggressiveness now so much as it is the weight of the razor itself. My theory is that I can get a better shave with a weightier piece of machinery supporting the blade, just based on the strength of my beard. Most of the three-pieces are lighter in construction, so maybe I subconsciously increase pressure to try and get a better shave.

Of course, this theory doesn't quite fit when I consider that my SuperSpeed is fairly light and still gives me the mildest shave with any blade I use. Oh, the joys of experimentation and razor burn! :think002

Razor burn does not rear it's ugly head very often for me. I'm one of the lucky ones. I almost always finish off with an after shave balm such as Lumene. It's available locally at CVS and is reasonably priced. YMMV of course. The above mentioned opions are all good it's just a matter of finding what's right for you.

Generally you will notice the burn immediately after you are done shaving
here is my remedy
1. Take a cube of ice rub the areas of burn (on your face only please).
This will be an instant relief
2. Apply a dab of Proraso A/S balm once again on the areas of burn (face only)
3. Follow it up with A/S splash

and ....voila... burn be gone!!

I am amazed to know that because in my opinions there should be a long list of stuff to apply . An Alcohol based after shave can do this , That is amazing . Can you suggest some specific brand ?
