Guys, you HAVE to try SCS New Spice. It's $10 for 3.3 oz so you really aren't going out on a limb to try it.

My girlfriend so LOVES this stuff... I don't think I've ever seen such a positive response to any cologne.

Bottom line: GET IT.

:D

Glad its working for you bud-

I must say though, my GF did NOT like this stuff at all, I was asked to wash it off immediately and had a helluva time getting it off my skin. I ended up gifting it to a relative (who liked it, btw).

I will say that New Spice is a VERY cheap alternative to Thiery Muegler's Angel for men. Very similar.

Man, that's too bad.

I got a sample of the stuff a while back and personally didn't think too much of it... but then my GF got a whiff of it and that was it... I ordered some.

I'll have to check my sample of Angel again... I remember putting it on a hating it right off... it smelled like a candy factory or something. It made me think of Willie Wonka.

Yep, the Angel (as does New Spice) has chocolate-notes

I've been impressed with all the SCS scents I've tried so far... New Spice is one of the strongest colognes I've ever used. VERY strong.

Bang for the buck, I'm not sure there's a better deal out there for a longer-lasting cologne.

So far I've picked up:

New Spice
Embrace
Bay Rum w/a Twist

GF does not like the bay rum... she doesn't hate it but she sure doesn't like it.

I haven't worn the Embrace for her.

But the best thing is, the prices are so reasonable that you might as well try them!

I know I've spent a lot more on other EDTs on reviews alone.

I got a sample of New Spice in my last order. I wasnt extremely thrilled. It turned a little sweet on me and was a little strong.

I love the Bay Rum w/a Twist though and am warming up to the Oakmoss Lavendula.

guys, both scents seem to go well on olive-skinned, swarthy men like myself because our body chemistry seems to hold a heavy scent like this better.

I hear ya.
Too much of the "twist" in the SCS BR for me.
I cut it with some of the Master BayRum AS from Sally's at about a
5:1 ratio of MBR to SCS BR.
Just a hint of lime smells better to me.

I think it is the bay rum scent altogether that she does not like... she said I smelled spicy and she didn't care for it.

It's really tough for me to buy scents & colognes. I have to have my wife and daughter with me. Everyone's body chemistry is different and it's surprising what works for me and what doesn't. The best smelling stuff in the bottle can smell like cow dung and then there is some stuff that you'd think was skunk juice but turns out nice. Go figure.

The SCS New Spice didn't work for me. SWMBO made the crinkly nose face and muttered something about me smelling like Raid?!?! Sometimes I think chemotherapy has messed with her sense of smell, but she loves JHL and BB1818.

I never smelled raid but thought it was too sweet and didn't like the oily finish. Something in it reminded me of my Grandmother baking cookies, not a bad association but not what I look for in cologne either.

A lot of people like this one. I suspect it's one that folks either like or dislike strongly.

I just took my New Spice out of the box about twenty minutes ago. Wow. This is some strong stuff!! Just awesome. Sue also threw in a few samples. That was very kind. I would recommend her store to all.

I have a thing for SCS EDTs. Haven't tried one yet that I don't like, and I currently have 8 of them. Bay rum w/ a twist is my personal favorite though. I agree that new spice is extra concentrated. About 1/3 of a spray lasts all day on me. The first time I used it I gave it a full pump, and it was out of control. My wife did not like it, but with a lighter mist she is in to it.

I have been wearing my New Spice for about a week now and it has some odd comments. I personally like it. But, the general opinion from the women, is that it smells a little too feminine for a man. Have any of you fellas noticed that? I will admit it is a bit on the sweet side, but that is nothing that a few drops of a quality sandelwood EO could not fix.

So, I am going to use a 5ml tester vial to run an experiment. Today I will put a drop or two of sandelwood EO in this vial of New Spice. The vial is then getting put in the closet until August 1st. I will then take it out, put an atomizer on the tube, and let a group of women (they will consist of mostly family) critique both. You fine folks of TSD will get a report on the results.

Before I continue with this experiment, does anyone have any helpful advice?

my wife says New Spice reminds her in a few ways of Thierry Mugler Angel Men, and I agree with her.

New Spice is great - buy my wife didn't like it. I always detected a hint of caramel in it. MMMMM!

Incidentally, as soon as I get a couple more posts under my belt, I will be putting up the New Spice shave soap, AS milk, and cologne for sale.

I went ahead and put two drops of sandelwood in a 10ml vial of New Spice. It has only been a few days, but it already has a more masculine smell to it. Even the wife says it is better. I am still going to wait another month before actually using it to allow the EO's to blend together more thoroughly.

I went on the SCS site today to order a few bottles of New Spice for myself and gifts for some male relatives only to find the price of the 2 oz bottle has doubled!! I realize that the price of things is going up, but to DOUBLE the price, WTF!!! I could see charging so much more for a bigger bottle, but not the same little one. Just my 2 cents.

From a post Sue had made over at SMF:

"We have restructured our pricing on Eau De Toilettes. We are no longer able to offer the low prices we have had in the past. The balance was so far off, each bottle was a loss. It was a big decision if we should increase them a little every month or so...or get right to the end point. This is what we did. An increase is necessary or the option is to quit carrying EDT entirely."
