There are loads of creams out there worth trying out.

I've got a little of everything: Taylors, Trumpers, Truefitt & Hill, Art of Shaving, Proraso, Musgo Real, Palmolive, Frasers, Floris, and probably a few others.

Out of those, the Frasers (http://www.thebeautyfactory.com/barber.htm)is probably my favorite. It's loaded with glycerin and super slick.

It's also a super value. A huge tub of this stuff is only around $10.:)

Yeah, but how do we know all those aren't from a tub of Cool Whip? Or worse - Foamy?!

One of my LEAST favorite shaving cream scents is Almond. However, I DO have a tub of C&E that really is very good in the performance department...probably one of my best in fact. Guess I'll have to try another C&E scent and hope it works as well as the Almond does.

You know, I really don't remember the last time I used canned lather - probably a good ten years before you were BORN! (Yeah, I'm THAT old...older, even!) ;)

Even before I discovered this 'lost art' I had quit using canned anything.

Prior to discovering wetshaving, I was using Kiehl's brushless shave creams.

Michael, C&E almond is actually a muguet scent, not really almond, in the sense that Taylors, or DR Harris is. You're right about the cream, it does perform great.

I'll second that notion, my friend. Actually, I find all the C&E fragrances sweet and sickening. Their sandalwood was a big let-down, given the hype. Its a shame, because they are widely available....but they just don't do it for me.

The Frasers, to me....doesn't have an incredible scent. It isn't horrible, but its not one of my favorites. A lemon-cookie type smell.

Olivia's creams are available in all of her offered scents. A personal favorite of mine that she offers is the Churchill. Very clean, classy....a true "gentelman's" fragrance.

Don't know about frasers but I have 4 creams by Olivia's:
Myhrr....wonderfull absolutly lovely warm scent (and all the creams are quite good)
Amber very nice warm scent as well, just different.
Rolling Stone: Ver nice fresh scent
Chill out: Do not like this scent at all. but the cream is quite good.

Myhrr is my favorite out of those though.

Olivia Chruchill good cream but a typical smell I dont like. I will still use it because its a great cream.

I cant comment on the Fraser cream because the smelll must have been altered I received a package from Canada and it had been abused 3 weeks during its travel we feared it would never arrive but it did eventually. The bayrum bottle had broken nothing bayrum wise to be found. The Fraser was all over the place.
I think I rescued 40% of whats normally in the tub thats enough for me to last 2 years im not too much worried. im just upset that my friend had to pay good money to some Post office #$#%@# who said she was a pro at packing yeah right. The glass splinters also cut up into the other creams so now I have to be carefull where I squeeze or else it will come out of the middle of the creams. smae with the balmsems. I just hope there aint glass in the cream that would really cut up my face.

MY favorite creams would be :

-T&H 1805 (UK)
-Alando Men Rasier Creme (germany)
-Verguldehand cream (Netherlands)
-Taylor Advocado
-Cerrus (surprisingly underrated cream)
-Coates Tea Tree

I just got a jar of C&E Sweet Almond.

I don't have any other almond scents (it didn't seem like it would appeal to me) but I was offered this in a trade to I took it.

I guess I was expecting a scent similar to Amaretto or something... this smell as LOT more floral to me... like it should be called honeysuckle, or spring garden or something. It's not an offensive smell, but it certainly isn't what I was expecting from 'Almond'.

I'll echo what others have said about the Fraser. Mild lemon-lime scent that doesn't last past the shave. But a really nice cream, gives me super shaves every time.

I also am a big Florena fan. If I do go for another cream, it will be from a trip to the local C&E shop. Or the local Truefitt & Hill if I'm feeling reckless financially.

Good morning all, I'll offer my current favorites to yoru new site. They will change tomorrow, and again the day after that:D

Rose: TOBS
Lavender: Harris / TOBS
Almond: Harris / GFT
Avocado: TOBS
Lime: GFT / CF

Honorable mention for Harris Arlington, which I am still getting used to. The cream scent differs considerably from the A/S milk and cologne. More fern, less lime. It's growing on me though. I used to be quite a fan of the C&E almond until our building started using a soap in the restroom with the same scent. It still performs extremely well but the product is pretty much ruined for me now. Best of luck with the new site.

The Vulfix shave creams never seem to get much ink in forums, but this was the first one I ever tried and I still like it. I use the Lavender flavor - it has a semi runny consistency but lathers like mad, shaves very well, and does a pretty good job of moisturizing too.

I use soaps most of the time but would buy the Vulfix cream again after I try MB Sandalwood Vanilla.

Interesting. I find that Taylor's violet smells rather like cardboard. Works fine, just smells funny to me. Perhaps I'll have to give GFT a shot. I do like GFT's Rose and Lavender creams.

I guess I'd have to say my favorite lathering cream is C&E's Almond, but it's hard to shave while holding my nose. T&H's Grafton has to be my overall favorite. I LOVE the scent and the lather is very good. Maybe not as good as the C&E, but close enough.

Glad to hear your feeling better, Blair. And you're quite welcome. I was worried about the lathering properties of the Almond I sent you...the container I put it in was from a sample of Caswell-Massey! :p I washed it out well before putting the C&E in, but you never know. I COULD NOT make lather with the C-M!! Wound up rinsing the brush and starting over with a real shave cream!

I think it's time to try some C&E Sandalwood (since JoAnna HATES HATES HATES Nomad). ;)

How funny a description of Trumper's Violet..."smells like cardboard." Well that's certainly not the most extreme description of I've ever heard of the GFT Violet...some liken it to the "scent of a harlot's handbag."

I can only refute the "smell of cardboard." GFT Violet was one of the first two creams I bought when I returned to wetshaving in mid 2005. It has turned out to be one of my favorite creams and I absolutely love the scent. But, as we say so many times in wetshaving, YMMV.

Jason,

The Nancy Boy Signature and the J.M. Frasers are two of my favorite creams.

I really love the scent of the NB cream, but most of all I love the rich, creamy, luxurious, light-cooling, ultra-cushioning lather it produces; it's my 'go-to' cream.

I recently received a tub of J.M. Frasers in a trade. This stuff produces a totally different lather than any other cream I have used. The lather is ultra-thick, ultra-creamy, ultra-rich and produces an ultra-slick shaving surface. The citrusy scent is not anything to write home about, but the lather and shave are so outstanding I can live with the ho-hum scent.

Another of my favorites is Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea Butter. By itself it produces a top notch lather and gives the protection and cushioning that makes a great shave. However, I add this stuff to my other creams and soaps to 'kick 'em up a notch'.

This morning I blended some KMF and JMF creams and I absolutely loved the lather they produced. I also blend KMF and NB sometimes and the result is very, very nice!

I'm gonna' be on the lookout for a good source for the J.M. Frasers, since it is apparently a Candian cream. Any pointers?

I've made a few purchases from them... keep in mind though, you'll probably want to purchase multiple items to off-set the high shipping costs.

C&E creams are actually cheaper on a "per ounce" basis if you buy their tubes. For $30 you can get 7 ounces of cream. Still high, but it's not much more than if you bought Taylors in the tubes. $4.28/ounce Vs $4.20 for Taylors tubes.
And way less than T&H tubes at $7.20/ounce in the tubes.

I have some Chillout from Olivia, which was sent to me as a trade off for Proraso and Florena. First of all, it's really a soap, but it lathers more like a cream, and I find the scent delightful. When I finish it, I'd love to get some more of it. As is the case with every Olivia product I've had, the shaves it gives, along with the post shave skincare are marvellous, and the skin feels smooth, soft, and irritation and razor burn free.

Always enjoy being the contrarian and try to buy domestic. Found two American creams which I now go to more often than my favorite Brits.

1. SCS Bay Rum/twist and Oakmoss/lavendula
2. Nancy Boy
3. Trumper coconut
4. Taylor avocado
5. AOS lavender

BTW, if anyone has plans for a group buy on Fraser's, I would be very interested.

Ditto on the group buy! I would definitely love to have a couple more Fraser's tubs to put into inventory!

Well If anyone wants to go in on a group buy I already have a tub but some Booster would be nice while we are at it. :D

The JMF is really worth it if you can get your hands on it.

If you ever order from Colleen at TGQ, be sure to grab some of her Lavender de Provence cream. It is simply outstanding.

Why yes I have :drool . I use soaps, including several of Colleen's, probably 5 days a week. Sometimes on the weekends I'll do a luxurious shave with a cream and Colleen's Lavender de Provence is among my favorites.

PS. Her bath soaps are excellent as well.

One of the best for me are Olivias creams.
Others not mentioned here but very good creams are:

-LEA from spain (regular and menthol)
-KARO from Bulgaria (Classic , New Caro, ...)
-Viking from Bulgaria
-ARGO Neo from Bulgaria

These creams don't cost much but can a lot.If you have the chance to get one of them you should.

Interesting. I tried some C&E Almond a while back and, to me, it smelled nothing like almond in the slightest. It was pleasant enough ... to me it had more of a floral scent than anything else. Not bad, just doesn't smell anything like almond

TOBS Sandalwood
SCS Bay Rum with a Twist

Oh man...I have already decided to stick to the system I have right now for 15 shaves or so to get my technique down and get a good feel for everything before I start changing things, then I need to change just one thing at a time so I can recognize the difference...but I keep seeing and reading about all these fantastic PS treatments, creams, soaps, AST, new blades, already ordered samples of a bunch of things....Maybe I need to start shaving twice a day!
