Growing up as kids here in the south we were always daring each other to do stupid stuff. You know, riding our bikes without holding the handlebars, shoot our buddy with a BB gun, jump off a cliff into the lake, eat 2 dozen donuts, you know the story.
The progression of dares we had as kids went something like this.
Dare – a challenge to do something stupid, foolish or dangerous, normally initiated by funny, zany, suggestive conversations or actions. The dare is normally the first in a series of fun, lighthearted challenges which become increasingly stupid, foolish, dangerous and more demanding.
Double Dare – the first counter of a Dare, moving it up to the next level of stupid, foolish, dangerous and ridiculous. One can still refuse to participate at this level.
Double Dog Dare – the counter of a Double Dare, taking the pressure to participate to the level of no return. A Double Dog Dare is serious and cannot be refused. Only one thing can counteract a Double Dog Dare.
Triple Dog Dare – the superlative Dare. A Triple Dog Dare can only be used to counter a Double Dog Dare. A Triple Dog Dare cannot be counteracted and cannot be backed down from – no exceptions! Things get serious at this point, or should we say ultra-stupid?
I thought it might be interesting to hear some of y'alls Dare Stories, both as kids and grownups. But remember...let's keep 'em G....this is the Clean Joke section!
