I just ordered some Personna Red pack and I have not yeat figured a way to keep the blades rotated in the razor except this. To shave with a razor, remove the blade and put into another razor.
Is that cheap or an easy way to rotate the blades?

Rotate the blades? I don't think you need to do that.. where did you hear the idea of rotating DE blades?

Hence the cheap part. The easily confused is that I forget which razor I was on. I do not have many but 4 am does not a clear thought make.:D
I typically have blades in multiple razors, then I can just pick from which ever one I want to use of the loaded razors. When a blade starts to feel dull, out it goes. For a while I used a sharpie to mark on the blade each time I used it to count, but I decided it makes sense to continue to use it until it is getting dull.

Do you mean flipping the blades around so all sides/ angles get used? I did that for a while and then quit when I figured out the blade only cost 20 cents AND flipping it around didn't improve the shave or extend durability.
If I understand you right and you really DO want to flip/ rotate the blades, then I recommend you buy a butterfly- opening razor. They're the easiest to change blades on...

Rodd,
Glad to see you moved away from the sharpie - that sounded just a bit anal-retentive ;)

As opposed to the rest of this thread?

I'm goin go to go with the cheap. I load up all my razors and if I pick up a razor and it feels dull, I throw the blade out and grab a different razor. Buy a box of 100+ and dont worry about how many you use. An entire years worth is still cheaper than a months worth of cartridge replacements.

Single,
I would go with JayKay's Idea.
Take care,

So I am a cheap shave and an expensive date. Better one than the other?
Whatever gits it done, SW.
At one point I had my rotation in my PDA.....would update it every day.
When I reached 3 -4 shaves, Id change out the blade.
Nowadays, my true self has kicked in:
My PDA died and I am too lazy to keep up the spreadsheet elsewhere.
I just shave til the blade tells me "no Mo" !

If you can find a woman who enjoys paying and likes cheeks w/ rough patches, that is... :happy102

Ha ha! Good one, Rick. You are joking, right?
To quote one of our other members (I forget his name, but I think he's a medic)..."Just shave, baby!" :)

Get a straight and stop worrying about blades and their rotation :D
and start worrying about honing skills, honing materials, refined technique, bloody learning curve, expensive razors?
I kid, I kid...one day I'll get the guts and motivation to do this I think.

I decided to use Rod' approach. Anal retentive maybe, but my skin is so sensitive.

With blades being so inexpensive, I use 'em 3 times and into the shavebank they go.....

I say use a new blade every day. Make every day your birthday!

I sincerely hope you do not use feathers, that can get expensive.

Haha. If I were to use a new blade every day I'd use Treets (1$ for 10 blades). Feathers can be cheep(er) if you buy them in boxes of 1000 from random asian-esq countries.

but they are treets aren't they? I can never get more than one out of them anyway. ;)

Haha. I thought the treats were pretty decent. I got an acceptable shave out of them no matter which type I used. Fortunately theyre are a couple blades that dont tug at all, so I dont get to use the cheapos. Unfortunately, the blades that dont tug are more expensive.

I change razors each day. They hang on racks on either side of my medicine cabinet.
After I complete my shave for the day I remove the blade from the razor, rinse it off and then put it in the razor I will use the next day.
That way I not only rotate my blades but also my razors. As for how many shaves from a blade, I keep track of that in the SOTD forums. Usually only 4 shaves per blade unless I am using a GEM then only two shaves.

Another SE user. Saints be praised. :D
I actually get significantly more shaves on my single edge razors. I attributed it to the thicker blades. I get 5 easily.

I am in the 4-5 category too. But when they go south the go quick.

My Crystals will get me at least 4 shaves since I will typically 'spin' the razor as I shave. What I mean by that is I'll shave with the 'front' of the razor on one side of my face and then 'spin' it to the 'back' for more even blade wear. My shaves (unless I am lazy) are a minimum of 2 passes and my beard hair is VERY thick.
I don't have experience with other blade times (Injector or whatever, but I did buy a Trac II for travel so we'll see how that goes) but I know that most DE blades I have tried have worked out in the 3-5 shave range. I am super light on the pressure though and my prep is very intensive so that all might help.

I just started the spin thing. May be I'll make a thread (http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?p=105733#post105733) out of it.
