So, yesterday, I change from the Walgreens brand blades. I had a sampler pack so I decided to try the Derby's blade... WOW, what a difference... You know, two blades brand new act completely different from one another...I had heard people on the other forums talk but never imagined it t obe this different!!!:eek::eek: Did I mention it was different???

Did I mention it was different???

I think you might have, yeah :p

Indeed, different blades perform differently, some smooth, some harsh, some super sharp...

To add another variable, blades performs differently in different razors too! Angle of attack, width, edge exposure... you can go on for a long time to try to find the perfect combination! ;)

(If you really want to live up to the name "Sir Peeler" I say; Try a Merkur Futur dialed to 9 with a new Feather!)

Get a blade sampler and start experimenting! (Check here (http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2346) to read more about blade samplers)

I started off with Kroger brand blades. I went to Red pack personnas and derbys. I can say having used both that red pack personnas are the sharpest and best for my face.

Derbys feel too dull, I can feel the hairs being popped off. Red Pack, soft and smooth with less irritation.

Don't listen to the masses on what blade is best. Like Johnan said, the best blade will vary, depending on just about everything.

My personal favorite blade is the sharp brand blade, but it's far from number one with most people.

Sir,

Sparky Speaks the truth, you should always try to have diffeent shaves with different blades. I personally don't like derby since it irritates my skin, but you may have a different experience than me. Always try something different and you will be amaze mostly all the time.

Take care and enjoys those blades,

Dark

I also believe there's an interaction between the blade and the razor. My thinking (based on no actual knowledge ;)) is that each blade's edge has a different angle, and that each razor holds a blade at a different angle. So the resulting effective angle of the razor's edge against your skin will be different with different combinations of razor and blade. Or I could be full of it. :D

Short of a sampler pack (I think the sampler packs are too complex an varied.) For a start, buy 1 package of each of the blades offered in the Shave Den store. I'm really loving the 7am brand myself.

I will say to stay away from the store brands. They are probably made by a name brand, but probably not the quality, from my experience with Dollar General, Walgreens, and Kroger.
