My first use of this interesting brush! That's a 6-inch pocket ruler in the picture. The brush stands roughly 5.5 inches (140mm) high! It has an approximate knot/loft size of 28mm/62mm!! :eek:

I am primarily a face-latherer and that is how I used the brush. There must be a learning curve here, but I am pleased with the initial results. It didn't seem to hold as much lather (for subsequent passes) as a badger brush, but it sure did produce LOTS of thick, slick and cushiony decadence!!! I am not used to boar brushes "blooming," but this one actually did...showing around a 33% to 50% increase in diameter at the top of the brush tips :confused:. The picture was taken before the shave--perhaps I should post an "after" picture as well???

Any thoughts on the brush or proper technique/tips would be greatly appreciated! :cool:

Nice, smooth 4-pass shave (WTG/XTG/XTG/ATG) with very near BBS results! Almost NO irritation as I applied the alum. A nice toning from the witch hazel, and then...my first use of the Pinaud Clubman aftershave! VERY nice, bracing and soothing at the same time. The scent (I am told it's "musky") stayed around for a few hours but did not overwhelm. A nice, old-time and inexpensive product! :D

I am going to go with a shaving brush, for these reasons:

> On the base of the handle it says: "Sterilized" over "RUBBERSET" over "Trade Mark" over "Made in U.S.A." The "Sterilized" reference is common to their (and other companies) shaving brushes!

> The six flutes in the handle fit the fingers/fingertips perfectly when the brush is oriented "horizontally" (that is, bristles pointed toward face). Great for soapy hands!

> The knot is of traditional form, not the "cornrow" style bristles as shown in the link you furnished.

menthol again was the order of the day--Top Ten cream cools and soothes beautifully, and I love the scent. The Vifrex gel kills any trace of razor burn on contact. Another great shave! ;) :D
