You are actually very close to Tombstone! That's where the shoot-out at the O.K. Corral occurred. Coincidentally, I had some great chile rellenos when I was there. I'll find you the name of the place. Very cool sight to visit.
Also check out Saguaro National Park while you are there. Awesome!!!
If you do nothing else hit those sites!

I just LOVE the Southwest! Hope you enjoy it there.
Make sure to visit Sedona, AZ...it is a magical place. Hiking is a great endeavor if you are so inclined.
Best wishes to you,

Yeah--I was just a "visitor" there several times.
PA is still "home base" for me!
That being said, any good Southwesterner would remind you that you just can't have TOO MANY boots, jeans, guns and knives! ;)

Hi there Isaac,
Whew............Tucson brings back some memories. I lived there in 1970-71, and enjoyed that town a lot. I believe at the time, the population was only about 200,000....hehe. Yeah, it's a tiny bit bigger now. I can pm you with my humorous adventures in Nogales if you like. Yep, only about 70 miles from Tucson I think. That Mexican town was really funky in those days, which was just what I liked back then..........heh. Yeah, I have a few funny stories from those visits. Prescription (and non prescription drugs and prostitutes may be a part of those entertaining anecdotes.....hard to remember now actually. Sigh........back then I was riding a 1969 BSA Thunderbolt, which was a beautiful bike.
Isaac? It's your lucky day if you like an excellent breakfast! My favorite casual place for that would be a restaurant called 'Gus Balon's', and it's still in business. You can go online and read a few reviews on the place, and also directions for getting there. Actually, it's really easy, being located on 22nd, near Craycroft. Some of THE best cream pies also............man those were good!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, I think you'll enjoy Tucson a lot.
Martin
Oh....Isaac? Where will you be living in the summer..............hehehe.

While in Tucson, be sure to cgo to the Mission San Xavier del Bac. Undoubtedly the finest example of Spanish Mission architecture in the U.S..
Go also to Nogales. If La Cueva is still there, try the turtle soup.
No, Tecate is not a premium beer!

Hey Isaac... sorry I was on vacation (to escape the AZ heat ;)) and missed your arrival. Welcome to AZ!!!
Some other local/day trip places to check out...
Kartchner Caverns... wait until mid October when the big room re-opens (it closes in the summer for the indigenous bats to nest) if you can.
Sabino Canyon
Pima Air and Space Museum at Davis Monthan AFB... airplane graveyard and museum
Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum
Boyce Thompson Arboretum
Bisbee
Biosphere 2
Most of the above is outdoor activity, so they will best be enjoyed when the temperatures cool a bit... typically in mid to late Sept.
If you want to go to Vegas, fly... it's a 6-hr drive from Phoenix (where I live) so add a couple from Tuscon... just not worth it and the road trip isn't exactly scenic).
