I was cleaning out a closet over the weekend and I found a tube of Gillette Menthol shaving cream that I bought in Singapore a couple years ago. This stuff is actually made in Lebanon is really quite good; wish I had picked up a dozen tubes when I was there. Oh, well.

Yes, Jeff, there is menthol in it - at least in the new formulation that's been on the market for a year or so. The old formula, which I used today, doesn't contain any menthol.

ahhhhh, so the cream went through a reformulation process. Klaus, my bro, you taught me something!

It's actually been reformulated twice or three times. There was the long-used old version. Then they changed it (IIRC due to new EU-laws about ingredients but I could be mistaken), the new formula wasn't that good (they added boric acid and replaced the good lanoline by some other substance) so they changed it again after getting complaints from wetshavers from a German board (they reintroduced the lanoline and removed the boric acid). The new formulation is very, very close to the old one, but now with menthol.

This razor shaves like a champ. Also found out why they call it a Hamburg Ring", the sound while stropping (didn't pre-strop) is a wonderful ringing sound.

menthol again, because it got really hot and humid here in town. The Gada cream is very cooling and fresh, with a nice minty scent, and rich, full-bodied lather.

*Nesher Man is a freezing cold a/shave made in Israel, with a great scent that lasts, and a small splash of it will make you feel like you put an ice-pack on your face.

**Amatoury cologne is from Lebanon--very lemony, and fresh, perfect for summer weather, or for the tropics.

I decided to mix it up today and try out two things I don't usually use (SS, MWF), but I got a pretty good shave. Just a bit of razor burn on my adam's apple, otherwise the shave might be just a bit closer than usual.
