View Full Version : The Shaving Shop

I just wanted to take a minute to recognize a shaving vendor publicly. Until recently, I was not familiar with The Shaving Shop (http://www.shavingshop.com). However, I just ordered a new Wacker straight from them and John Crowley, the owner, went above and beyond for me.
John offers a honing service for folks who purchase one of the beautiful straights he sells (Wacker, Henckels Friodur, Robert Williams, for example). The price is $20 or so. When I bought the Wacker, I did not order - or pay for - honing. I did, however, mention to John that I was a noob at this straight thing. So he honed it for me because he didn't want me to be turned off to straight shaving simply because I was trying to use an improperly honed razor. No charge.
I was more than pleased that he took the initiative and provided a service like this and I wanted to let you all know.
Oh, and here's my new toy (a 6/8 Spanish Point, Buffalo horn)...should arrive early next week. :)

Very nice razor. I've never done business with him but John does seem to have a very good reputation. I'm glad you're happy with his service.

I bought my Friodur from John over 18 months ago and have been looking for an excuse to buy from him again (but unfortunately my wife has not developed amnesia yet :D). He really is a great person to deal with and I'd recommend him to everyone.
That's a beautiful razor Michael. :1respect In the words of our (my) Most Gracious Majesty - "Bless this razor and all who shave with her." I'm sure you'll enjoy using it.
James.

I only have one of them left - it has marbled celluloid handles. I only had 30 of these to begin with and they were a rarity in their own time.

Glad to know you got one. The ones that shop offers are actually the last Jungmeisters available - Mr. Wacker has no more, I got one of the very last directly from him and know the guy who bought the last one.

They didn't sell well at all for quite a while; however, I realized just how good they really are sure enough people started to tune into them. They are among the finest and a favorite of mine.
