This is an awesome video. This barber does the textbook shave with a straight razor (including stropping!!!). I look back through my barber's manuals from the 50's and this guy does it all. I only wish the entire shave was shown in this video

So I found this barbershop's website and they have some videos.

video one is this shave that I linked to above.

video two is honing a straight razor

video three is stropping.

I'd like to talk with the barber sometime. The honing is a little different and the strop sure seems to sag but he must be getting the required results.

Yeah I noticed that it said Waldorf Barbershop on the aprin and than Dublin Ireland under it. I'm just to used to the waldorf being the one here in new york. I edited it.

I noticed. Now my post makes me look like I don't know what I'm talking about. In other words, probably more truthful :happy102

Haha. In the "recent threads" page it only says the waldorf barbershop, it isnt untill you look at the whole title on this page that you see its in Ireland. But I tend to not look at the whole title when I get to the page. I should have guessed considering he was using an actual str8 and not one of those disposable ones. I cant remember the last time I've seen a video from the US where they used an actual str8.

Not New York - Ireland

This barbers shop is 10mins from my house and the video doesn't do it justice... its even better!! The guy in the video has been a barber for about 40 someting years. Its fairly cheap too compared to other barbers in the area. Originally they changed the old antique looking premises to an all modern look. It didn't do down well. They went back to the old look and in the process of the overhaul found some other features, chairs, towel steamers etc., that they didnt even realise were there.
Glad you all appove.

Crosbie -

Thanks for giving us a little history about the place. I'd love to see it in person some day.

Made my Day Steve !

I love that Nostalgic feel... the guy already did look pretty shaved I gotta agree with the former comment but the Barber saw it and only did 1 pass. The Guy knows his stuff...
