Hi All, Update: Razor is SOLD. Thank you Shave Den.
Figured I'd try this here before offering it in another forum:
I have a Gillette Diplomat for sale in good condition. This is the later generation Aristocrat.........dated A2 (second quarter 1955).
Not so good news first: The razor has a few tiny what look like pinpricks on one door. No idea how they got there, but it isn't brassing, and is barely visible. The gold on the head is shiny and intact, but the lacquer is about gone. The razor shows less than normal wear, although the gold is gone from the safety bars. There's also just the tiniest little bit of brassing on one safety bar. None of these things will affect the way this razor shaves.
The very good news: The razor is in excellent mechanical shape...doors open and close smoothly and the blade gap is even on both sides. The handle looks like new, and no dings or dents anywhere on the razor to be seen.
This would be an excellent daily shaver..........not too expensive and still a good looking piece. I'd like $30 for this one, which includes US shipping. As I mentioned before, this looks quite a bit like the Aristocrat, and should shave in a similar manner.
Sorry I can't take pics, but will take the razor back if the condition isn't as described. Not a bad deal for a razor like this. Paypal is fine.
