When I travel to art fairs with my wife, I usually pick up a few bar soaps from the various makers. I also enjoy the Issey Bay Rum Guinness bar. There is a soaper I found on eBay a month or so back who has very reasonable cold pressed bars and a few "Signature Blend" soaps that smell very nice, the "Oak Moon" being one of my favorites.

Signature scents:
http://stores.ebay.com/toadstoolsoaps_W0QQfrsrcZ1QQfsubZ18QQtZkm

Cold pressed offerings:
http://stores.ebay.com/toadstoolsoaps_NATURAL-Cold-Processed-Soaps_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ2QQftidZ2QQtZkm

I have yet to try the regular cold pressed bar as I am still working through an "Oak Moon" brick - that bar is HUGE!

thanks for the info. I have been using a lavender oatmeal bar I picked up at a local organic foods shop. I really like it, but they stopped carrying that particular scent. I'll have to look around.

I love my homemade 100% OO soap ;) I had the pleasure to try Issys Bamboo & Teak and it was just awesome! Currently my bar in the shower is TGQ Cavendish Black, a super soap! And out in the countryhouse I have the GFT sample soap in "production", didn't say which one it was, but it hs a citrus/orange scent and feels awesome!

Grandpa's Pine Tar Super Soap! Bought some on close out at a grocery a couple years ago. Loved it, but it was close out, so they had stopped carrying it. I found it online during my scavanging for shaving supplies a couple weeks ago. I'm loving it again. The box says it's good for shaving too. I think I'll try it this week.

Great moisturizing soap. I've been using it for years. Not sure how "natural" it is.

Ingredients: Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Cocoate, Aqua, Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Fragrance, Colours (Titanium Dioxide, Chromium Hydroxide Green, D&C Yellow 10 Lake), Sodium Chloride, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Threobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, PEG- 75 Lanolin, Allantoin, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Ergocalciferol (Vitamin D), Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate

I’ve been happily using Caswell-Massey’s soaps for the last few years in these scents: Jockey Club, Verbena, Lime, Tricorn (Sandalwood), Number Six and Almond.
I have a sort of soap buffet line set up and each morning I pick one for my shower.

Issy's soaps sound intriguing...hmmmm...currently I use traditional Syrian Aleppo soap for my face & I mixed up some Dr. Bronner's Organic Castille Hemp Peppermint & Lavender gel soap...refreshing on them hot n' humid summer days. I loved the Almond soap in my Trumpers Sample pack. I also am a big fan of Melt soap, they have many many more scents in the store and they can ship from the store for you. www dot meltproducts dot com

I have no affiliation just like to the local companies and helping them out.

The only reason i went to bars, having been a liquid guy my whole life, was cost. I am learning how to deal with the dry/sticky(like if I run my hand over my skin it feels like the hair will rip out) feeling that bar soap leaves behind.

What soaps have you tried?

Those Melt soaps look to be glycerin soaps, and some people find those to cause dryness.

Most store brand bath/body soap isn't real soap, it's detergent.

Here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soap) a little Wiki for you.

I have to recommend Issy's soaps (http://www.theshaveden.com/issysoriginals/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=1). If those dry out your skin, well...........I just don't know.......

Although I have to switch back to showers to avoid soap scum , I'm really into the West Indies Soaps, right now :cool::cool::cool:

The West Indies Soap Lime 3.5 oz. is triple milled and especially suited for those with sensitive and allergic skin, with its mild Lime perfume based on natural extracts. Castor Oil and Shea Butter give the skin an incredible softness without leaving residue. The soap's alkaline pH (9) makes it antibacterial.

Master Soapmaker Catherine Rolland created the West Indies Soap in Guadeloupe. A real treat for your skin!

A refreshing and soothing bar soap thanks to the Mint and Eucalyptus. Eucalyptus is an antiseptic and natural bug repellent, making it excellent for camping and other outdoor activities. The Castor Oil and Shea Butter moisturize and nourish the skin. Its alkaline pH (9) makes it antibacterial.

This soap has real mint leaves in it !!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Le Savon de Soir (Evening Soap), thanks to its mild perfume of Vetiver and Seville Orange, brings you its sedative, calming and soothing feeling to make you relax. Its orange peels provide your skin a good exfoliation and a deep cleansing. Its alkaline pH (9) makes it antibacterial. The Shea Butter nourishes and protects your skin, while the Avocado Oil softens and strengthens it.

Gar! I've been at this a little while, picked up the DE bug, the cream bug, the soap bug, the straight bug, the strop bug, the brush bug.....

BUT AT LEAST I NEVER CAUGHT THE SOAP BUG!

So, which Issy's should I get? I've been a poof guy for a while, I like the "comes completely off" clean feeling I get from using some cheap body wash. I hate the scent.
I don't want TOO strong a scent in the shower...perhaps a gentler peppermint? Is there such a thing?

Definitely Issy's.

Washes off clean, but won't dry out the skin.

TSD Store has Issy's Bamboo & Teak soap. That's a nice light, clean scent, IMO.

I think Issy just recently added the Hardwood Musk. It has my attention. Haven't tried it.

I know Issy said he had some different scents coming up soon.

Hopefully, the man himself will chime in.

All my soaps will leave you with a clean feeling yet moisturize as well. The peppermint will sure wake you up though. This week I will be listing more scents. That peppermint sounds a little too intense for me. No doubt it would be so for my wife (sensitive skin).
Is there any blend with a nice "mellow" mint? Perhaps mixed with some other scent? That other scent...vanilla? Perhaps some form of "spice"?

This place is aweful. I'm thinking of picking up a $2-3 soap locally and now I'm going to have to spend $7 plus shipping for a fancy "Bay Rum & Guiness" soap. That is assuming SWMBO doesn't give me too hard of a time about it.

I've been using the Dove body wash with the poof but have been thinking of trying a new bar soap instead. I'm hoping these homemade type soaps will moisturize better than the Dove body wash. Detergent bars dry me out something fierce, and we have a water softener, too, which has helped. I'm thinking the Dove body wash is just a liquid detergent with lotion added in....

I've been eyeing up that Bamboo & Teak bar, too....

Its hard for me to pick a scent, you may or may not like what others do or dont, If you like Vinalla I will be pouring some Dreamsicle soon which is an Orange Vanilla, I have a Lilac & Lavender that will be ready in a few weeks...scents like Tropical Fruit cross the gender gap for sure.....The Bamboo & Teak is a wonderful scent also. I just got out of the shower and used my T&H West Indian Limes soap for the first time. It was great! Definitely a good soap, may favourite? Probably not, but most likely a top 5 position...

Since this thread found the top again, I have to plug Gingers Garden soaps. I am really enjoying them.

Thank you! :)

I have tried many and still think Nancy Boy's are some of the best. Great scent and great performance. Each bar lasts right at a month also which is outstanding!
