Crabtree and Evelyn Best Badger Brush (C&E BBB)
$35 and found almost everywhere.
Save yourself time and money and just buy 1 of these.
Best advice I can possibly give ya !

Couldn't agree with you more Rick!

It is my go-to brush.

I can recommend the Tweezerman Badger Brush ($10).

Cheap
Effective
Soft, yet slightly scrubby
Good size
Despite owning several high-end brushes, the Tweezerman remains in my rotation :)

I, OTOH, recommend the Rooney Style 3 Small Super Silvertip (http://www.vintagebladesllc.com/vshop/xcart/home.php?cat=156)---a brush that will last you for the long haul. And, hey, if you can afford it, the Style 3 Small Finest.

Reason: it does a better job and makes the shave more fun. Plus paying that much builds commitment. :)

The C&E BBB is not available on the site as of now.

So looks like I will be driving to Annapolis to the store.

C&E brush is definately a good starter. I have never owned one (I have the C&E Super) but it's tried and true among shavers everywhere. Can't go wrong for the price.

If all else fails you can sell or trade it off relatively easy too!

The C&E Best Badger was actually my second brush purchase and it is IMHO a "Best Value" brush! I use mine primarily for soaps, but it will stir up a cream just as easily.

Questions about brushes.

I bought a number of Tweezerman Badger Brush to re-sell at the local Farmer's Market. Since I had never used this brand before, I kept one at home for Paul to use (okay, me too sometimes!!)

I notice that it 'sheds' a LOT of hair. Is this normal for new brushes??? Paul went back to using his old one (don't know the brand) because of it.

Boar-bristle brushes will shed more than badger.

Tweezerman shouldn't shed (at first) more than a couple hairs per shave, and eventually none.

Depending on how you are defining "a LOT", you could have a faulty/shoddy knot assembly.

Thanks Joe. I've set the brush aside, but I'm now going to go study up on how to propery use a shave brush and check this out again.

I have one of these in my stable of brushes, as well, and find myself using it a lot. A great brush for the price.

It seems the initial fallout of the Tweezerman badger is finished. I'm loving it!!!

For $35 (plus nys sales tax) the C&E BBB is a great brush. Not planning on any others at present, too many shave creams to buy.:D

Is the C&E Super really as big as it looks?
