A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles per
year.
Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer
year.
That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.
Kind of makes you proud to be an American.
No offense to those of you in other countries. These were government studies, our tax $ at work. :D

If only they did a study on drinking and driving, I swear my Ford would get 200 Miles to the Gallon. :happy102

EEEEEEEKK fruity drinks. Not unless I'm on a tropical island on the beach. But anything that makes you happy JoAnna, works for me :D My girlfriend just started drinking beer. She drinks all of mine when she comes to visit. Ughhh...better invest in a keg.

Keg's the way to go! You have to do half-barrels, though. You just don't get the economy-of-scale in a quarter... IF you buy a pre-made one, you have to MAKE SURE it will hold a half.
about $250 shipped for a double with the fancy CO2 bottle and an afternoon to 'convert' the fridge. beveragefactory.com

Wow. Thats rather expensive for a set up. I was hoping I could build a make-shift one for less.

Ahh. I took a look. You can put one together for about 75$ without a tank. I bet I can find one around here for pretty cheap.

the double costs more cuase you need two of everything. Keg Couplers can cost $60+ by themselves...
Tap handles are about $18-35 shipped, depending on what you want
I would go with SS hose clamps on all the gas connections- it's the only way to prevent leaks.
make sure you can get your co2 tank refilled- some places won't do that; they only swap out. And a tank has to have been manufactured recently or they won't even swap.

Hm.. The party taps that dont mount are the door would probably be good enough because we'll probably try to pawn the fridge off in another year. On top of that we should pick up some hose clamps that are better than the ones provided? I think I have some left over from re-hosing a radiator on a restoration last summer. I'm not having the best of luck finding a used tank around here, I'll have to look around the labs at school. I think otherwise we'll just buy a 5lb tank to stick in the fridge.

You need to change that tap.
May I suggest.....

Had my share... Used to spend a lot of nights in PIT. Besides, It's not easy to get in barrels around here.
I get mostly local stuff + a light. Sprecher, Lakefront, New Glarus, Tyranena. I like Milwaukee's Best Light, but you can't get it in quarters anymore.... :(

and make sure you use Beer Line for your beer lines- don't just get hardware store hose. Everything that rouches the beer has to be 'food grade' and not foam up the beer. Hardware store hose is good for the co2
you can look at welding supply stores for the tank and co2. You can also ask a local liquor store where to get the co2. the food grade beer line is a little trickier. online is about it...

I guess I'll wind up ordering one of those kits and maybe a tank. There are plenty of welding places around here and I have a friend whos father owns his own gas line welding company, maybe I'll be able to get some free co2 or get it on the cheap.

in general, compressed gasses are a pain in the ass...
JayKay

I supprisingly have pretty good access to compressed gasses. A few of my friends just opened up a paintball shop so I can probably get some refils at price. I also get some good deals through my school on compressed gasses as long as I say its for a research purpose :D

Based on my own calculations. I am only getting about 10 miles to the gallon. :ashamed001
