I am interested in picking up an ultrasonic cleaner, (for my wife's jewelry of course :happy102) I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend a reasonably priced one that is decent? The price varies so much, and I don't want to spend money on something that does not work. Thanks!

I've not used any of the high level cleaners, but i've got this one. I usually run it with a drop of dish soap. My only complaint with it, is that it runs on a timer, and it's never quite long enough. That problem is easily solved by running it through a couple cycles.

That sounds perfect. I am not looking for anything fancy. I appreciate the info!

Gotta love these things, they work good and get a lot of the junk out of a razor.

I went ahead and ordered one. The one I ordered can clean cds and dvds too, so I can multi purpose it. Oh, I mean, yes dear, it is for your jewelry, mind if I use it again?

OK, UPS claims mine was delivered today. I also just got a Rocket that needs cleaning, so it will be first to take a bath. Thanks Sparky for recommending a drop of dish soap. Has anyone tried with borax or oxyclean? Also, should I use hot water, or does it matter? I will try to post some before/after pics of a few razors. Also, after a go with the ultrasonic cleaner, do you still scrub them? Thanks!

I'm interested to see how this works. My wife's jewelry needs a good cleaning as well ;)

Oh yes, I mean I better test it before I put my wife's good jewelry in it... Might need to go through several rounds of tests before I feel comfortable... ;)

Great device! Mine heats the water as it works. Dishwashing liquid or a cuppa drops of vinegar is all I've ever used. I always use the basket, just didn't figure that metal against plated metal was a good idea. It sure does clean out all of the cracks and crevices (insides). It may also remove any enamal paint like the numbers on a Gillette adjustable. :D Yes, you may still have to clean and polish if there are stuborn spots or stains. Then run them again. :D
Does a fine job on jewelry, makes my wife happy.

Luck!

Here's a big thread on ultrasonic cleaners (http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=953&highlight=ultrasonic).

Awesome! Thanks for pointing me to that. I will still post my pictures here, but that thread answered my questions, and gave me some good ideas! Thanks! So far it is going well. I end up letting them go for about 10 minutes, seem to just get a little bit at a time. Doesn't help that I am cleaning razors that have caked on gunk. I cleaned one that I have been using, and that one cleaned up FAST! I will show my results tomorrow.

OK, I just finished taking a few pictures, cleaned a lot of razors tonight. I took before and after shots of the first set. I like it, I could have a couple going in this, while I scrub the ones that just came out. Got a nice little process down.

Wow. Very nice work. I think your wife is going to appreciate this little machine (someday).

It looks like a great size, too. Much larger than I thought it would be for some reason.

The one I got is listed on ebay as "newmodel" ultrasonic cleaner. I liked that you can clean CDs in it. Seems to work well. I can't compare to anything else, because this is the only one I tried.

Here's the one I got from the same online auction site. Don't be in a hurry, set your price on one you like, you'll get it. There seem to be a zillion out there.
Good job Rodd!
