So I was the tester for the new version of cream and a new Bay Rum Aftershave made by JoAnna from The Shave Den Store, here is how it went.

First off I was never a big fan of the cream. I always felt the lather was hard to build, a bit thin, and not much protection. The new version was no different.

The shave went well though. Very slick but defiantly not what I am used too. I still got a close, comfortable shave.

As for the new aftershave, FAN-TAS-TIC! Great scent, went on nice (felt good, no burn), absorbed quickly, and tightened/toned the skin. Not a ton of moisturizer but pretty good for an aftershave splash. As far a Razor Burn relief, I couldn’t tell you because I had no irritation from the shave. It is safe to say I like it a lot better then the Ogallala.

you must have one HELL OF a Though Beard Jeff. for me the Derby's last 3 shaves. I only accept comfortable BBS shaves so im not even trying to go for a 4 days just not worth the hassle to save what 0.03 cents ? uhm.. TOSS !

It seems you get two comfortable Shaves with the Derby's a very though beard nothing wrong with it . I would suggest what happends if you use a Derby in the R91 can you get 3 comfortable shaves or 2 + 1 hard to work to get BBS if that yields the same results id say use them for 2 shaves then toss !

and remember just like kitchen knives its not a SHARP knife thats dangerous its a blunt one !

other then that the line up looks rockin' solid.

General Post on shaving SOS trends.

1) Changed beard prep routine and getting nicer shaves.
2) Both work and home shaves now include a Feather ACD-N or str8 the first pass with a DE the second and cleanup passes.
3) Favoring hard shave soaps but a quality cream is always welcome.
4) Building lather on face more instead of using a bowl to expand my technique knowledge.
5) Favoring performance over scent. It's good that a soap or cream smells nice but the scent is not part of the final shave ,A/S or cologne is, and I prefer that the product works great. I've shunted aside a number of items in the last couple of months due to lack of performance and I'm sure the list will grow.
6) Keeping equipment the same for the whole week at work and only changing the soap/cream and A/S each day.

oyyyyy, Boubi--no matter what razor, or blade I use, my beard is my beard. 2 really comfortable shaves, and then the 3rd one is an effort, and sometimes a struggle. It's 6:00 in the evening, and I have stubble again, though not quite as bad as yesterday, because I did another pass. I'm still changing the blade for tomorrow.

Result: 4.5/5.0 It's a Spellbound Woods Day. The soap smells great when I'm using it but like all soap scents it won't last much beyond the shave if at all. The cologne on the other hand will last me all day. Unlike some of the other MB soaps I have, this one lathers up thick and rich. I've been going back and forth between the Proraso pre-post aftershave cream and the Lucky Tiger Mint Menthol Vanishing Cream. Based on a cost effectiveness ratio, the Lucky Tiger wins hands down. In addition, I feel that I can use the Lucky Tiger as a base for adding things like extra menthol, eucalyptus or tea tree oil to boost the performance even more. The Proraso is a great product but too pricey for what you get.

Results: 4.6/5.0 OK, lot's of notes today. It was a Bay Rum Day. The Mama Bear Bay Rum and Citrus did not lather as well as the Spellbound Woods yesterday but acceptable. I added everything in my shave today just to show what I am currently using. I combined the Proraso pre-post cream with the Nivea Balm to make a nice custom balm. I'm really getting the hang of building lathers directly on my face. I had to break out the Remington Trimmer to get rid of some unsightly hairs. So, now I get to sit here and feel my soft, almost BBS face and smell the Pinaud Bay Rum aftershave while eating Chorizo Scramble for breakfast. Sounds good to me. :)

Maiden voyage with a Hydrolast shave. I gotta tell ya -- a couple of firsts:

Today was the first time I actually dropped my razor while using it, because of how slick the Hydrolast mix is. I couldn't believe it. SPLASH right into the sink full of water. :D

Today was the first time I was BBS on my neck using a DE. Didn't need the Mach 3 pass to get that close on my neck. ZERO irritation. Quite simply, amazing.

Now, after about 30 minutes, my face and neck feel a bit dry/tight. I think I might add some additional moisturizer before heading out. Guess I went too heavy on the soap and it must have dried out my skin a bit. That Hydrolast Sandalwood/Citrus tonic is some GREAT smelling stuff!! :cool:
