Sorry to hear that Jeff, do you think the Lothentique could have been the cause was this your first use of the soap ? I tend to have sometimes similar experiences when trying out something for the first time then you dont know how the product responds so your water ratio might be off.

it's hard to say, Rene, I think it could be that perhaps it's time to change the blade. As a rule, I get 2 super-close shaves with a blade, but then after that, the blade tends to lose its sharpness. This Lothentique soap is pretty good, it was my first time using it, I find it leaves my skin feeling very clean, but it perhaps could use a little more fragrance.

The weight and handle of the razor felt just great. It was not as rough as one would think with that blade exposure. So far I can only say it seems like a razor that will have it's place in my rotation... maybe even the honour of going with me out to the country house! There I only bring the best of the best.. no compromises there!

And a small note on the Proraso Green spalsh...it's awesome! Super nice stuff!

1st shave with this Clorofilla stick--a beautiful scent based on spearmint, with a hint of something else, the lather is fantastic, and explodes fast, there's a light presence of menthol, and it gives a very good, soothing skincare. ;) :D

It was very good. Smell was a bit off but almost non existent.

Lathered like a dream, protected, and moisturized like no ones business and still gave a close (very close) comfortable (very comfortable) shave.

I took a cheese grater to mine and smashed it into a ziplock bowl....it seemed to make it lather even better ;)

Yea, not much scent to mine either, kind of a light soapy shea buttery smell....

except for the Tiger blade running out of sharpness, a very good shave. This P160 soap is excellent--a nice cherry-almond scent, with so much lather, and great for sensitive skin. It's very similar to Cella, or Valobra in texture. ;) :D

My D.R. Harris cream in the tub is some pretty stern stuff; quit dense, I’ve been scooping (more like scraping) it out with a butter knife and whipping it up in a bowl. Next time I use it I’m going to try loading the brush in the tub and lathering on my face. The stuff is almost as hard as soap, so I’m going to treat it like soap.

Oh, the shave was clean, close and comfortable – better known as a 3-C shave.

Facial Rub down: 25% Castor, 75% Olive Oils
Hot Shower
-wash face with Nivea Purifying Face Wash
Musgo Real Glyce lime oil soap applied with the Vulfix

Two things I noticed
1.) the more-than-usual prep made the shave much quieter
3.) the feather made the slant MUCH more pleasurable to use

in general, are you better of with a sharper blade in a slant, or is this just one of those YMMV things?

Late shave today. Did my first mountain bike ride after a November ankle fracture and surgery (internal fixation with a plate and six screws...). THAT particular incident was KTM-induced, not MTB. Temps were around 60 -- it felt great to get out!

Oh...and the shave was pretty good too!

I'll bet that 2x hot towel was fine!
Prep is everything to how you'll get a shave.

The Gillette Slim and a Derby is THE combo for me. I can't get BBS yet, but when I use other razors I get horrible razor burn, even if I use a derby loaded in whatever razor I choose.

The Tabac/T&H combination produced some pretty thick SLather. I'm also liking these Derby blades in the EJ Chatsworth.

I haven't worn the Trumper Marlborough in a while. It doesn't seem to get much air time on the forums, but it's a really nice fragrance. (YMMV, blah blah)

Another 3-C shave (clean, close and comfortable).

Loading my brush with soap in the small wood bowl that it came with has become so effortless. Why was I making it harder that it needed to be before? Just a few sweeps and swirls of the brush across the soap’s surface and I’m good for 3 passes and touch up on my chin (face lathering). This is great!:D
