HI all when your a new DE shaver does it almost feel like your skin has to level out before you get a good shave??

Hmmm...not sure about level out, but I believe most people have an adjustment period. Takes a few shaves for you skin to adjust to the new way of shaving.

I don't know about leveling out, but like JoAnna said, it'll take a bit to adjust.

If it seems to be harsh, remember don't apply any pressure, and you might need to use a mild blade, like a Derby.

At the moment I'm using Merkur blades and wilkinson from walgreens

It took about 10 shaves for my skin to 'level out' After that it was the most problem free skin I've ever had.

I switched to a slant, and same thing- I'm needing an adjustment period

I noticed in your intro yesterday you said you've been using a DE for about a week and had a SS and an HD. Now you've added a Slant. I suggest you stick with only one of these (not the Slant) for a month or so. I think part of your adjustment period is really just learning how to use these razors. Take is slowly and minimize the changes to your setup during the first month so you really learn good technique.
