Just glued my new brush, thought I would share it. There are some things I will do differently the next time, but I am happy with it, and it is a nice upgrade from my current setup.

Nice brush!

Did you repair an old brush, or is this "from scratch"?

Thanks! I got the knot from www.thegoldennib.com and turned the handle from a block of wood. I wanted something that fit my hand, so it fits my hand perfectly. I will post a picture in hand when I post my post bloom pic.
edit: just realized I did not explain the two handles. I was not sure if I wanted a thick handle or a narrow one, the narrow one just looked better with the 20 mm knot.

If you already have the wood and tools the price is good, so you want one. :) I will put up some post bloom pics soon. It is still curing. I used Marine grade epoxy. Should be comfortable in the water. I sealed the handle with 8 coats of polyurethane.

I was a bit worried about the Angel, as I couldn't recall what the perfume smelled like. The FO I bought reminded me of the Mayan Gold FO I have, but my nose isn't very refined at all.

You'll have to order a Mayan Gold to compare the 2 scents for me. :D

Nice! That oak has such a nice honey grain to it. You say walnut? I love black walnut!

My dad tore down a 130 year old barn about a decade ago. I tried my best to help, but as a 130 lb teenager I was not a lot of help. He has since passed away, but the oak is from that, so it is old growth Oak that was probably harvested 150 years ago. Really neat wood. With a stain or regular poly it looks different, but I think the "clear" (does add some honey tint) epoxy looks nice, adds a lot of shine, as well as protection.

I could turn you something in walnut if you are interested. Just let me know.

PalmettoB

I might just do that. My mom was the woodworker in my family, and black walnut was one of her favorites.

Couple of updates here, first I started working with CA finishes. I really like the look of it. The two pictures below are the same brush. It is a piece of black palm that one side is light and the other is dark. I think it looks very cool. This has the CA finish. This one was for Scott (Hanspleasure on B&B)

Then when I was recently looking at a few razors I had sitting around with cracked barrels I thought about turning a razor handle. After talking to Guenron about the Oosic handle a friend turned I decided to give it a go. This is my first try. Bubinga with CA finish, and a Merkur head. The handle is going to the Queen, minus my Merkur head.

I found a nice big piece of walnut that had both heartwood and sap wood. (dark and light) and thought it would be awesome for brushes. What do you think? This piece had a couple small improfections, I thought about turning them off, but my Dad always used to say they add character... I will let you be the judge of that.

I am home alone this weekend, so I have had some time to turn. Here are a couple more

First this beast is old barn wood with a 24mm silvertip knot set deep. The result is an extremely dense full soft brush. The big handle looks a bit off balanced now, but after bloom, I think this will be perfect.
The second one is cocobolo. It has a 20mm silvertip knot. This is for my wife's co-worker. My wife converted someone! :)
