Hi,
I just got an excited call from my good friend in a distant city.

He doesn't shave a lot, and about a year ago I had given him a surplus Super Speed or Gillette Tech (don't remember) and some Israeli IP blades.

Anyway he had finally got around to trying the razor and where he was used to shaving with cartridge razors...., he was very pleased. He shaves one pass against the grain..(lol). I told him about whisker reduction and urged him to try a wtg, and xtg pass to heighten his sense of a good shave.

So the point is; share DE shaving with your friends. Even the most unlikely can be introduced to shaving nirvana.

Excellent! Another convert.

However, I place my youngest son in the beyond "most unlikely" category. He's a confirmed Norelco shaver. For Christmas, 2006, I gave him a Merkur HD, a tub of Taylor's Lavender, a C&E BBB plus a few other assorted items. Every so often, I'd ask him if he'd tried them yet. "No, but I'm going to."

Some months later, I was visiting him and found the box with all that stuff in it...still unused. He will never even try it.

So, now I have a tub of lavender, an HD and a bottle of Proraso ASB. I did just sell the brush after using it a couple of times so I'd know what all the fuss was about.

I guess everyone is not a candidate. But I tried.

I tried with my son too, not a shred of interest. Showed him a nice brush and some creams and one of my razors. I had thought about buying him a few things to get started but guess I can use the money to feed my own habit.

I put a shave package together for a friend. DE, mug, soap and a brush. Now he calls me to tell me about his baby butt face............. all the time. At least he chucked the m3 razor, and I have to screen my incoming calls....:happy102

I told my friends I was going to try out straight shaving and they all thought I was crazy. But I dont mind... I kind of like having something of mine own I guess which for me is a rare thing to come by. Maybe one day ill let them in:rolleyes:

My girlfriend would give me dirty looks as if she were pitying me when I would gush over wet shaving. After feeling my BBS face, she became a believer. Now, after I shave, she immediately tries to rub my face. Sometimes I let her; sometimes I don't. Well, I just can't give it away all the time! I tell her she's gotta make a decent man out of me first. For some reason, the dirty looks come back after that. She can't fool me though. Inside I know she's laughing too. :happy102

EVERYBODY I know thinks I'm absolutely crazy for lathering up with a brush and shaving with a DE. They either think it takes to much time or that its just way to sharp to be using. Either way, I cant get anybody I know near it. Alteast my girlfriend appreciates a good shave.

Interesting posts. I went from shaving with an electric to shaving with a straight. I have shaved with cartridge shavers before but ususally used an electric. I tried sharing my enthusiasm with some of my colleagues but I think they thought I was a little touched. Ahhh well, it's their loss. Of course, once I noticed their discomfort, I played it up a lot saying things like: "Nothing like having a blade that makes the hair jump off of your arm just by getting close. Nothing like the feel of wielding a one inch piece of steel that is 10 times sharper than a scalpel against the beard on your face." Of course that really got them cringing a little. What fun.

The only thing that matters is that I enjoy the shaving experience and my wife loves the BBS results!

I converted my brother and sister.

The other day I gave my friend a tube of the C&E Almond. He wasnt ready for the brush yet. He said, "thats old school". He has used the cream and said its pretty good.

The fight will continue

Recently tried to convert a friend, then he told me that he shaves fast and rough, "like Rambo" he said....

I just left it alone. - I mean, where would you begin.

This is my experience. One response was, "Yeah, you get a smooth shave with a DE, but it'll shred your face." I've even offered my older brother our grandfather's DE, and he wasn't interested in it in the slightest.
