4 days ago, I touched up my straight razor with several passes on the 3 micron diamond paste and several passes on the 1 micron diamond paste. 3 days ago, I came down with a big ol' case of "got hit by a Mack truck" illness and didn't feel like doing anything. So I shaved for the first time today in 3 days. First pass went near BBS. WOW. By the time I finished my third pass, there wasn't a hair to be found on my face anywhere. This was at about 10:30am. I'm sitting here at 11:00pm and can feel just a few very timid hairs testing the waters so to speak. I don't think I will be able to shave in the morning because there isn't going to be enough there.
I have to find a way to duplicate this result every day. It seems, however, that after 4 or 5 days of daily shaving, I get one spot on my face that gets razor burn, regardless of what I do or how sharp a blade I use. Of course, if I can continue to get these results, I'd end up shaving every other day or at least every 36 hours instead of every 24 hours.
I've been getting really good shaves consistently but nothing like today. This is what straight shaving is supposed to be like. :happy108
I typically get a better shave if I don't shave the day before, which has led me to shave once during the weekends :D I believe quite a few people have encountered this phenomenon as well. There's nothing like a really nice BBS shave :)

Agreed! The longer you wait between shaves the more wonderful and smoothe the next time you shave is.

Yep, I get very close shaves that can last for more then a day with my straights. Like you, though, trying to achieve BBS daily tends to get at least one area a little raw by the end of the week. I think during the weekdays, I'm going to try for "once over" shaves to get a presentable look without the build up of irritation.

I know what you guys are saying, but I just cannot go a day without a shave. Heavy stubble on my face just gets me down.

I hear you on that one! I am lucky in that my facial hair grows fairly slowly so I never have a heavy stubble unless I go 2 days w/o shaving. I actually cheat sometimes and do a half-ass shave so that it will last me just enough for the day but enough stubble will grow back for a great shave the next day :D

Guilty of that myself. :D

Me too, while I agree that I get a better shave if I wait an extra day, I also go an entire day with a stubble that drives my kids nuts, and makes me feel like I didn't shower!
I just compromise by doing a one or maybe two pass shave, rather than the 3 pass "BBS" shave every day.
