So most of you know I'm not the biggest fan of creams. On a whim, I decided to try something new... which is something that often happens when you are hanging out at Enchate longer than you should be :happy102
I picked up a new tub of DR Harris, having never tried this cream figured what the heck. This stuff is dark purple in color and very dense. Not at all whipped and fluffy like the Trumpers and Truefitt ones are. What I liked most is that the fragrance is pleasing and subtle, doesn't jump out and kick you in the face when you open the tub. I like fragranced stuff, but I like it to be gentle to the senses, not overwhelming. I leave the heavy lifting in the fragrance category to my choice of cologne for the day.
This morning, figured new brush (PL10) and new cream, could be interesting. This stuff whipped in to a beautiful rich and thick lather with no effort at all. Provided a very nice and enjoyable shave that the blade just glides right through. The lavender scent opens up nicely when lathering and never gets overpowering. Not bad at all for a cream, coming from someone who is a hard soap and Method fan.

D R Harris Lavender is right up there at the top of my favorite creams list! It don't get no better, IMHO! Some folks berate it for its coloring, but I've used it extensively with both my ShaveMac and Vulfix and never has any discoloration whatsoever.
It is indeed a very nice minty, herbaceous Lavender fragrance and the lather it produces is very lubricating and moisturizing. I must admit I favor creams instead of soaps! ;)

DR Harris Lavender is a very, very nice cream, but for some reason, it gave me a serious skin irritation, so after 2 shaves with it, I had to give it away. :(

I’m pretty much a Soap-Head, but when I see an endorsement for a cream by a guy named “PottyDoctor”, well, this must be karma (at least). I just placed an order with Vintage Blades LLC for a tub of D.R. Harris Lavender cream.

Mike, I'm glad you finally tried DR Harris shave creams. They are truly one of my favorites. Try the Almond next.

The Harris almond has a great scent, although very faint, but the lather, and skincare are tremendous.

Are they as good as the old formulation? The old formulation Lavender is so good it's unreal!

Why did you have to tell me that?
Now I have to go back to Chas' shop sometime this week and buy another tub

Telly, I think that formulation was the one I had, but the problem was my skin just couldn't deal with it. :( :( It is a terrific cream, however.

I posted this in my SOS post today, but then I thought it would be best to post it here too.
My D.R. Harris cream in the tub is some pretty stern stuff; quit dense. I’ve been scooping (more like scraping) it out with a butter knife and whipping it up in a bowl. Next time I use it I’m going to try loading the brush in the tub and lathering on my face. The stuff is almost as hard as soap, so I’m going to treat it like soap.
Just a final thought on this density issue; my Harris Lavender cream in the pot reminds me of Prorasso in the tub (not the scent, just the consistency of the cream).
Anyone else thinking along these lines?

Yup, it's some dense stuff. I scoop mine out with the wooden popsicle sticks I use for my Method pastes. Once you get it lathered though, the stuff rocks. Well worth the effort IMHO

This morning I followed through on my plan. I gave my trusty Vulfix Mayfair a good soak in hot water, shook it out and lightly swirled it around in the tub a few times. A quick visual check confirmed the brush was sufficiently loaded and then I commenced lathering on my face.
No problem… plenty of cream for 3 passes. This will be my standard procedure whenever I use my Harris Lavender cream. I think I’ll also use this method when I use my Vulfix creams too! Heck, I just might retire my lathering bowl because I’ve only got the Harris and Vulfix creams anyway.
Life is good!
