I am younger than most here (I think--20) and started with higher end products just to keep a good complexion before I even started wet shaving. I know many of you are set in your ways about your "classic" products but have any of you tried any of the "new age" and higher end products? Is it just the idea of these new products don't work to well or is it just a stuck in your old ways type of situation? I personally use some Zirh and Anthony Logistics products for daily moisturizing and pre/post shave needs. I have a few OUTSTANDING products which I would recommend if anybody is interested.

I use Zirh, Peter Thomas Roth, Anthony Logistics, Ahava. The only thing I'm truly "traditional" about are the shave creams, soaps and witch hazel. You're right- there is a ton of good stuff out there (if you've got the bank account for em :( )

I don't think the majority of people here are stuck in their old ways. We've tried loads of products, and we tend to try those products which are recommended by fellow wetshavers.
We have a lovely review section (http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48), if you'd like to review the products you are, or aren't, impressed with. Just make sure you don't start a second review thread for a product that already has a review thread.
And, of course, you are always welcome to start discussion threads on products.

I use a line of products on my face that I would consider VERY new age. I will admit though like my colognes they are part of my secret regime so I won't give up names without a fight! :angry037 :p
Anyway, back to the point, I use probably 5 or 6 things on my face along with the shaving regime and let me tell you if you find quality you will look AMAZING. My face was always nice but NEVER like this. I would never go back to no products or cheap stuff again.
So I think on this matter old school is good (most of the time better) but some new age stuff works damn well too! In the end whatever makes you happy though, and whatever WORKS, new.. old.. doesn't matter.

Agreed. I've poured a TON of money into trying all these new brands. I think its about time we all talk about something besides our classic products and get the word out. Hopefully if we can all share our experiences about these products maybe we can all give some a try and possibly find some new wonderful things out there. I've got a list of zirh and anthony logistics products which I love and hate. Once I finish up around the house I'll start posting some reviews of them.
AND!!!! Both anthony logistics and Zirh make trial packs of many of their products so you can give them a try without completely killing your wallet.

p.s. I enjoy my ever evolving nick name (super speedy at the moment). I'm a college student. That doesn't leave me much time to sleep, but I ALWAYS have internet access :D

btw, we have all, atleast those of us who pay attention, have heard of Anthony Logistics and Zirh. Some have even tried them. I don't think anyone ever "raves" about the products though.
I couldn't find any reviews for any of their products, in our review section.

I have heard of Zirh from a good friend of mine who absolutely swears by the stuff. Said it was top quality all around.

Well I do rave about some of their products. I'll have to rave about them in the review section later tonight.

Not sure which products you like or don't, but for $10 I can get 120ml of Anherb Aftershave conditioner compared to Zirh's 100ml Soothe post()-shave treatment for $30.
Anherb is an absolutely fabulous aftershave, and at 1/3 the price, too.

I for one don't have a need for high end new age products. My face has never felt better, never been as healthy as it is today. All I did was change the way I shave and change the products I use none of which are new age. My "old ways" give me the results I want and I do not kill my wallet either.

Okay so I'll make the short list of products I love and hate.
Daily Face Wash:
AL Facial Scrub-Great to use 2x a week to remove dead skin cells. LOVE IT
AL Glycolic Facial Cleanser- Use it every morning and night. Its a non foaming facial cleanser and works great to get all the dirt and grime off your face.
Zirh Clean- A great mentholated foaming facial cleanser which is also wonderful to wake up to. It is an alpha-hydroxy type facial cleanser.
Preshave:
Zirh Prepare- it does what it should. Over priced. 16$ for preshave oil... spend it somewhere else
Shaving Cream (non-brush)
AL Shave Cream- This stuff actually works very well. I used to use it when I was in a rush and didnt have time for a full shave with a brush. Best non-brush shave cream out there IMO.
Zirh Shave Gel- Its okay, nothing to write home about.
Zirh Shave Cream Tub- VERY mentholated. Burns my face if I leave it on to long. If your obsessed with menthol and sometimes use a mach3 or some other sort of razor, give it a try.
After Shave Balms:
Anthony Logistics- A great after shave moisturizer. Keeps your face bbs all day long. You wont dry out and get ashy during the day. Great if you get razor burn or your face burns because it has a topical anesthetic in it :D I use it daily after shaving.
Zirh Smooth- Another wonderful product. It doesn't last as long as the AL ASB . I would recommend the AL ASB over this any day.
Daily Moisturizing:
Zirh Correct + Protect: THE BEST LONG LASTING BBS MOISTURIZER I HAVE EVER USED. The correct vitamin serum fixes the blemishes on your face while the protect keeps you moisturized all day long.
AL Oil Free Facial Lotion: Its good. But it wont keep you moisturized all day during these cold winter months.
Not sure which products you like or don't, but for $10 I can get 120ml of Anherb Aftershave conditioner compared to Zirh's 100ml Soothe post()-shave treatment for $30.
Anherb is an absolutely fabulous aftershave, and at 1/3 the price, too.
Totally. Fer sure.
I only half joke when I say, "I dont pay retail".
I'm always on the lookout for quality products at bargain prices.
That said.....
I have tried several Anthonys, Baxters and other "new age" products that were either gifted to me or acquired by trade.
I found them, in general, to be adequate but not mind blowing.

The only product I truly find mind blowing is the daily moisturizer combo of zirh correct and protect.

Hmmm... I don't know, but this stuff ain't for me. I'm not willing to pay 30$ (or, rather 40€ with shipping) for some fancy product. As far as my face is concerned: If it's allright, I use nothing. If it needs some treatment, a dab of Shea Butter will fix me up for good. I guess I'm an old-methods-guy.
But everybody has to find what works best for him :)

If you e-mail them you might be able to get samples. I'm not sure what it does to free radicals but it sure does fix just about anything on my face :D

AAAaaawwwww!
I thought this thread was about new age shaving products like shaving with pyramids and transendental meditation aftershave. I got new age crystals hanging all over the place and I am not talking alum crystals either. Whatever phase of the moon you prefer to do your shaving in is fine. The age of aqaurius has plenty of moisture and lubrication to go around.
Just remember, sometimes the new age stuff is the tried, tested, and true stuff!

Agreed. The zirh correct is a vitamin syrup that you apply over your whole face and than you apply zirh protect over it. Somehow, the correct fixes my blemishes, shaving accidents, and any other problem I have with my face while the protect keeps me moisturized all day. Somebody try it before you all think im crazy :ashamed001 Also, the protect has sun block in it to help protect your face free of harmful UV rays. Dont use the protect after shaving though, as sun tan lotion does burn like hell.

Korres also makes some good products. The Absinthe Men's Shave cream is actually quite nice, so is the Ginseng and Marigold after shave balm.

I'll second the Zirh and AL products. The AL shave gel is probably my favorite shaving gel or cream. I haven't tried the Protect and Correct, I'll have to do that.

A big plus 1 on the anherb. Under 10 bucks and menthol too! It is great to have a second supplier in case one goes on vacation.

Call me picky, but I go by the ingredient list first; price second.
