A nice shave! The Heljestrand had a nice zzing to the blade. I get consistant results from the straights every shave now, still not a perfect result, but definitely average! I'm happy to have come this far without a single cut!

This is the second time I've used the Lavender AOS and I think it is a bit harsh for my face. The Sandalwood and the Lemon versions are fine, but this scent may be relegated to when I want to use the Mach3.

Another rushed shave with my new Fatboy and a new soap. I like the way the Fatboy lies in my hands, it's very easy to use and shaves like a dream.
The C&E soap is also great, although I find it dries my skin a bit.

Result: 4.5/5.0 The Musgo Real Lime Oil Glycerin soap was a dud. I had to enhance it with some Kiss My Face Unscented Shave Cream which once again saved the day. The lather went poof. You know when you hear a lot of soap crackling you're in trouble. Too bad. The Musgo Real Shave Cream is a different animal and much better in my opinion. 3 Roses Hair Tonic is nice but discontinued.

I never knew a shaving cream could make such luxurious lather! :D I've always been a soap man but this is making me pause. It was thick and rich like some kind of Colombian chocolate. Great stuff!

These Gillette blades work surprisingly well--they're also very forgiving, similar to the Sharps. They shave very nice and close as well. ;) :D

Hmmm.... the Fatboy is a jolly good razor but I'm not so sure about that Tom's of Maine brushless cream. It's transparent, so I don't know where I need to shave and where I've already beedn, I don't know how much water this stuff needs, how thick it has to be applied etc. My first shave with it today was smooth, but with some noticeable irritation on the neck courtesy of going ofver the same spot twice...

A few firsts in this shave: Treet Blue Special blade and the Italian Palmolive SC - a wonderful shave. And the Ogallala Bay Rum Cologne may just convert me to being a Bay Rum fan. Not bad for 2 oz of cologne for $5 delivered!!!!

Went back and used the The Gentlemen's Quarter Cinnamon Hazelnut Coffee Glycerin Shave Soap. Much better lather this time. I switch brushes from the Omega Boar Brush to the C&E BBB Brush. Finished off the shave with Lucky Tiger Bay Rum Aftershave. Much kinder and softer than the Pinaud Bay Rum.

These Gillettes are good blades but don't last as long as the Derby's or Israeli's--only 4-5 days instead of a week.

For the price of blades nowadays why would you want to extend past 4-5 days. Back when I used Swedish Gillette's, which to me are the best blades, I never went over 5 days. Even now when I use a DE with an Israeli for touch-ups I never go over 4 days. Just a thought.

Florena got taken over by Nivea's producer, Beiersdorf AG, and it's a pity, because this cream kicks Nivea's butt--the scent is much nicer, and the skincare is so good. I also find I get better lather from Florena. The Derby Extras are fairly aggressive, but with caution, they work very well. ;) :D

Result: 4.4/5.0 A pleasant shave. Of all the Honeybee Spa soaps I have, this one smells the best. The soap performs about average for a glycerin melt and pour soap. The Italian Floid was a nice finish to the shave. I went lightly just under my chin. There is a tiny bump or blemish there I didn't want to cut.

Wow, lots of new faces here, how exciting :D Welcome every-buddy :cool:

Here's what my past few weeks have looked like:

1) Chicago - Portland (plane)
2) Portland - Seattle (train)
3) Seattle - Vancouver (bus)
4) Vancouver - Vancouver Island (boat, but first a bus [not same bus from seattle] from vancouver station to place where ferry leaves from)
5) same as # 4, but in reverse
5) same as #3, but in reverse
6) Seattle - Chicago (plane).....but was supposed to be a train, which because of mudslides across the tracks in washington, the track was closed, so no train. Then it was supposed to be bus from Seattle to Spokane, and train from Spokane to Chicago......but due to heavy snowing across washington the highway was shut down, and thus by bus from Seattle to Spokane never left. So in the end I ended up flying back.

That looks like a mess, but 90% of that was (mostly) planned. Had to be in all those cities for various things. I am being told that If I had pared back spending on shaving accoutrement over the past two years, I could have had a private jet :happy102

Here's what the shaves looked like. I started the journey with a lot more stuff, but between US and Canadian customs my travel-stash dwindled and some stuff was picked up "on the road." Somehow, I kept the razor but probably because they wouldn't know what to do with it :confused:

Sorry to hear that Johan , for me its the chin area that is troublesome , the neck is dead easy so are the Cheeks, if the chin wasnt so hard id probably do str8 shaving fulltime its just so much more fun and the shaves are closer.

I still consider myself lucky, this far and just a nick :happy108 Since I've heard stories about people bleeding and cutting their ears etc I can't really complain ;). I think the problem partly lies in that the beard on my neck grows in all directions, no constant line to follow.
