The use of the Super Speed is a real departure for me, as I shave with a Merkur 1904 or HD almost all of the time. The SS did a great job and I believe if I stayed with it I could get consistently great shaves.

Very good shave. Had an old Tech with a broken handle, so I made a new one out of solid brass. It's kind of heavy but works well. Will show a picture when I have a chance. Gillette made good razor heads but with a real cheap handle. I just couldn't throw it out.

They're right when they say prep is 50% of a good shave. I didn't have any irritation after the experiment, but the sheer size of the cartridge head meant I had to literally shake the razor 9 or 10 times each time I rinsed the blades... otherwise a steady stream of water would run down my face, leaving tracks of missing lather on parts I hadn't shaved yet! :eek:

Overall: No thanks, Shick. I'll stick with my DE razors.

Yes, I do a blade-buffing against the grain with the tip of the Feather AC. It is the only cutting tool that allows such a technique. Once you’re used to it, it is quite easy.

thanks, my man. I still don't feel well after this. I rarely ever cut myself, but when I do, it hurts like hell, and I get a terrible feeling of nausea. My face turned green, then blue and then beet red, and I broke out in a bad cold sweat.

OK, the Feather 25 is totally useless. Not that it’s not sharp, that depending on the blade it holds, but the eaten, uneven surface of the steel ruins the experience. I finished the shave with the Sticky. I’m sad.

You could always send it out to Joe Chandler for a total cleanup and new scales. He can make them out of just about any wood you desire, just a thought.

Or contact one of the other Honemeisters and ask it the can fix it up for you.

The metal part can’t be polished as it would simply remove the coating. Can Joe Chandler recoat it? Actually, I was about to send him a PM for two other straights.

Jim, that Chatsworth razor is a beauty! I didn't order the TOP razor with the brush because a) I was poor at the time I ordered, and b) I liked the less-bulbous handle of the Chatsworth instead of the Georgian. I'm thinking of going back and ordering a light horn-handled Chatsworth razor to go with my TOP brush.

Only two passes today, since I shaved late in the day yeaterday, and I was kinda in a hurry this morning. Didn't even lather in a bowl, just put a little of the KMF cream in my palm and swirled the wet brush in it, then built lather on my face. Havta remember that for traveling.

a much better shave with no problems, back to normal. Touchme cream's quite nice, a rich lather, nice scent, and even a buit-in disinfectant to prevent being bacteria. Check out the review I posted on it.

MB Shave Cream was great. Lathered nice. Got better as it rested in the bowl for the 2nd and third passes. Could have done 5-6 passes easily. Nice smell and not overpowering or overly lingering. Wife liked it. :)
