What do you all think about the Feedback changes (http://pages.ebay.com/sell/update08/rewards/index.html?ov=004KO#4)Ebay has made?

Doesn't seem like it fully deals with the feedback problems, IMO.

I agree. In fact, it seems like a step backwards.

Yeah, some of those seem just stupid! But some are really good! I like

"When a member is suspended, all their negative and neutral Feedback will be removed."

But in all fairness, ALL feedback should be removed.

That's what it is. Inf act, I think they need two rating - one long-termm-average and one short-term-average. There are many sellers out there that build up a reputation for a coula months and then start scamming the buyers in the course of a few weeks - this could function as an alert system.
But, well, ebay won't listen to us anyway ;)

I haven't had too many bad experience with buyers, but there are the occasional trolls who are only there to cause problems. I don't like that they can leave a seller negative feedback but the seller can only leave positive. What if they don't pay? Even if the negative to the seller is only there a couple of days, they can loose potention customers. But hopefully that won't happen. I do like that repeat customers feedback will count. They are also cutting fees in some areas, but they are taking more when an item sells, so they arn't really loosing that much, and I don't think the seller will save much that way either.

It's a pretty good system t ebay has to grade sellers and buyers. I use the feedback to determine if I want to deal with someone or not. I temper this with what I know about humanity. Some buyers are unreasonable...Some sellers send deficient goods..
I think it works well for what it is.

+1 to all of that, Susie. My thoughts exactly.

As a seller, I have a real problem with these changes. It would have benefited me as a buyer when I had a problem a couple of months ago but the issue was a retaliatory feedback to a seller refusing to give up the item. This is just another eBay cop out.

Buyers will only be able to receive positive Feedback.
Are you kidding me? Why bother rating buyers then. You might as well get rid of buyer feedback altogether.

When a member is suspended, all their negative and neutral Feedback will be removed.
This is just ludicrous. Buyers and sellers get suspended all the time. I can see people getting suspended just to get rid of their negative feedback.

Buyers will be held more accountable when sellers report an unpaid item or commit other policy violations.
Notice how accountable is not spelled out. What is eBay going to do? Suspend the buyer? Refer to the statement above.

This is just another reason why we (eSaddlery) stopped large scale selling on eBay. This type of garbage and sticking it to the sellers. The new fee structure will actually make eBay richer. It's just a way to get people to list as many items as possible. It will work for a while until people realize how much they are spending on listing fees and still not selling anything.

What brings these changes about?
Change for the sake of change? A new person is at the helm of that division and has to show they're doing something?

You are spot-on, Rich. I thought this same thing. Why bother? And for a suspension, I could easily see someone getting one deliberately. And accountable just means "watch your flippin' account" because they sure won't!

I was hoping to see something done about the feedback hostage problems I've seen in Ebay. Buying as much as I do on Ebay I get tired of making payment to a seller who expects to see feedback from me before they will leave feedback for me. As far as I'm concerned, once I have made payment I have completed my part of the transaction and should see my feedback soon afterwards. If there is a problem with the goods (as there was for me today, received the wrong pair of razors) I contacted the seller before jumping to post a NEG on him. He replied quickly and is making it right. When the transaction is good, I have promised him positive feedback. It was a mistake on his part, I know how that goes as I have done a similar thing myself in the past. But I get irked when I don't get feedback from sellers that are waiting for mine to be posted first.
Anyways....... what were we taking about here? ::mog maybe I should go read the link..............:whacky025

Perhaps its just me, but I've never quite understood why people feel that just by completing payment a buyer has done all they have to do.

There's still accepting shipping, getting the package in good shape, being satisfied with the item, and leaving feedback or e-mailing to notify the seller as such.

Just like on the seller side there's more than just listing and shipping the item. There's packaging the item properly, shipping in a timely manner, and attempting to fix the situation if anything goes wrong.

Unfortunately, most people who hold feedback over other people aren't doing it to be sure they've completed their side of the bargain. It can be to scam someone, to try to force the other party into doing what the buyer or seller wants, or a whole host of other rather sleazy reasons. And the new feedback system looks like it might only make that worse.
