View Full Version : Withdrawals
So.
Here it is.
About 2 weeks ago I thought I had been the lucky recipient of a nasty spider bite(s) to the neck.
Turns out, I believe, it is just a real nasty bout of ingrowns.
Right on my jaw line.
I had been trying to shave around it for a week but the area continued to worsen to the point I considered calling my Dr. to have a look.
4 days ago I quit messing with it, stopped shaving altogether and started applying topical dressings.
It should be completely healed in another cuppa days but the withdrawals from not being able to shave are killing me.
What do you all do when you cant shave ?? to keep from thinking about it ??
I've got the shave monkey baaaaaaaad :o

Hopefully it is not too painful! Sounds dreadful.
If I don't shave for awhile it typically does not bother me unless I need to look good then I am annoyed I was not able to do so because of time or whatever. I have yet to be forced into not shaving due to ingrowns though so I am lucky there.

I was gonna say have fun making copious amounts of lather, but now that the hairy palms card is out on the table... dangerous liaisons!
Anyway, do some french green clay masks!

Chew gum, smoke, drink to excess, anything to keep your mind off of it. :D
Seriously-
Keep your facial skin in shape so that the first shave won't feel like a peel.
Use your mask and moisturize your face. Do the above if the itching is getting to you. :D

I hope the healing goes well and fast for you Rick, have you done any searching or studies for ingrowns?
I was fascinated by them because to identify them is pretty hard I dont really know if I ever had an ingrown yet or that it simply was a disgusting black/white head (acne) .
Is there a way to recognize an ingrown ? if it stays bad always seek prof. help skincare is a trade like any other you need qualified personell checking you out.
you cant trust the media or factories producing so claimed solutions for ingrowns. I will refrain from mentioning product names here that are totally BS because they could file charges against my friend Bobby so I shall not do it but I had an interesting disgussion today with my dermatologist the stuff they show on TV ! oh Lord ! in some case it makes your condition worse !

One way for me to identify an Ingrown is to actually use a mirror. If you have a maginified one....its helpful on fair skin. You can actually see the hair folicle under the skin.
