I couldn't decide where to post this so if it needs to be moved, please do.


I had emailed Truefitt and Hill to request a sample of the Ultimate Comfort preshave oil and aftershave balm. If they couldn't do that, could they tell me of a store in my area selling these products. I got a reply that I never expected.

In a nutshell, T&H is sending me a sample collection of colognes as well as Ultimate Comfort preshave oil, shaving cream and aftershave balm.

This is far more than I had hoped for. It might seem a small thing to some but it's the small things that can leave a lasting impression on someone.

I had never dealt with T&H before and I am very appreciative of their willingness to accommodate my request.

I'm looking forward to trying out these samples.

I went to T&H here in Toronto a month or so ago and had a look at some of their stuff. Nothing really jumped out at me to be honest except maybe the oil. I think it is great that you were able to get some samples!

Bak in the day, I received a similar gift package for free. I haven't been without 1805 since.

Indeed, something like this is very likely to gain satisfied customers since it's about the entire experience, even how the company is percieved!

My thanks to T&H for providing these to me.

Now, does anyone care to opine on the colognes? Which ones have anyone tried and what are your thoughts on them?

ive never tried one of their colognes....or trumpers colognes for that fact. I really need to stop speinding all my money in Penhaligons.

I like the Spanish Leather...BUT ..I wish all the scents lasted longer on me..

I think two hours...BUT...I will do up some Spanish Leather tomorrow and keep better track of the time. Tho others can smell it on me far longer than I can..

I have never dealt directly with Truefitt & Hill, but I like their products. I really like 1805, too, and Grafton. I have the Ultimate Comfort cream and as balm, which I like too, that came in a gift set I won some time back.

I get the same problem. I quickly adjust to the scent and think it's no longer there. The only scent I can smell hours later is Leatherneck by The Gentlemen's Quarter. I can catch whiffs of that 8 hours later.

T&H had it in their website for 2.5 pound but it has since been removed. Probably due to high volume interest.

Penhaligon's sends a nice sample. I called them up a few weeks ago and they sent me their liquid line for free.

I have Spanish Leather and also find that it lasts only about 2-3 hours.

It's quite unlike Floris Vetiver which will stay with me all day and into the evening.

Too bad because I really like the Spanish Leather.

Yep, yesterday was ~ 2 hrs. ~ 8 hours after My Son came home and he couldn't detect anything.

I got two T&H Sampler packs and they were a wee bit different in some of the creams and fragrances. Probably because I ordered two of the sampler packs.

I tried, yesterday, the Spanish Leather cologne :drool But for a regular price of $75 I could never justify the purchase, especially since it lasted only about 3 hours. It might last longer if I used an atomizer as opposed to dabbing it on but it's still a little pricey. I'm wearing the Grafton today and, while a nice scent, seems to be too light a fragrance for me to notice (even while applying it).

As for the preshave oil, shave cream and aftershave balm, I've used them for 2 days now and I can't really make a determination as to whether or not I like them. I'm going back to my regular products tomorrow so it will be interesting to make a comparison tomorrow.
