You should see my pile of double edge blades, it would make you wonder where the medicine cabinet went to.

Pretty bad on RAD right now. It gets pretty bad when you really dont have the extra money..but you are contacting more than one person to make you some blades.

I'd say I'm just out of a phase of RAD... now I just have to wait for the CC bill to arrive :(

I have several going at the moment all equally impressive. How many blades do you have ? I think I need more blades !

80 right now, I have had that number as high as 110.

80 ? That doesn't seem so bad. I was looking at splitting a purchase of feathers (250) off ebay to get better price per blade.

Add 800 to that number and that is how many I have. :D

New, unopened blades.

Forunately, this disorder is relatively inexpensive and at least provides some usefulness. I wonder what the most someone has paid for a DE razor?

I am glad to hear that I don't have RAD that bad. Hay that rymes. The most that I would ever pay for a Double Edge would be about $20, becuase I know I can get one for that. I have not and probably will not buy any more double edge razors but if I did I would be on ebay looking for an individual who has no idea what the double edge is worth and as a consequence is selling the item for much less then the value of the item. I picked up the last few additions to my razor collection at $10 for three, not really a bad price for them and compelting my collection and all.

The prices seems to have gone up a notch or two lately on ebay, it's impossible to get a FatBoy at decent prices. Was thinking of getting one for my brother :(

My ADs have been held pretty well in check. I only have about 4-5 razors, a couple hundred blades and... get this... haven't bought a tub of shave cream since August 2007. I've never spent more than $28 on a DE. I've only bought one tube of Speick, Speick aftershave to go with it, and a puck T&H luxury soap since August. I just finished off (about a week apart) a tub of Taylor's St. James and a tub of AOS Sandalwood that I'd bought around Feb 2007.
I've kind of moved on to a new hobby - freshwater aquariums. I started putting one together this year at about the same time I found classic shaving last year.

That is a successful AA (Acquisitioners Anonymous) story!

At one time, I had over 40 brushes. Now down to less than 20. And I use 4 on a regular basis.

My worst Jones has been fountain pens.
True they are only of the under $500.00 (mostly)variety, but I have at least 25 of the buggers. The worst part is that I can't seem to part with any of them.
Now it's DE's and Straights to boot!!

I had a SC/SS-AD, I have to try nearly every cream and soap I can get and I hoard the stuff I like.
But, as of lately, I fought it, I'm currently in the process of selling stuff and only keeping the things I really, really like.
It's tough, but it clears out the space for more stuff to come in :rofl

I think Str8 rad is about as bad as it gets in terms of $$. It just never ends...:(

The thing is, when you get str8 rad, there's strop AD and Hone AD attached; then comes divorce papers. :p

When I first started a few years ago was when AD was at its best (worst?) Somewhat necessary to go through to find what worked best for me, glad its done but also glad for what I learned from it.

You need to cruise Ebay sometime. Stuff like Wilkinson Stickies, Gillette Aristocrats or Presidents, or the Gold Toggle (195) really go for top coin!
For example, check this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Gillette-1964-Aristocrat-Adjustable-Safety-Razor-Unused_W0QQitemZ230219070169QQihZ013QQcategoryZ359 89QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) one out.

I was once told on another fourm that wet shavers tend to get RAD becuase we are out there lookig for the perfect set up. We tend to kick the RAD thing when we find the best setup. I have the razor, after shave and soap down. Now I have to figure out the razor and cologne before I can call it quits. What do you think? You think you will quit buying so much once you find the best setup?

I've always been a toilettrie lover. I've been collecting toilet water every since my teens.
As of recently, I'd have to admit: Hello, my name is Moe, and I'm a shaving soap-aholic.

Very true indeed but not like collecting AD for motorcycles or sports cars. What I have experienced is that the investment sneaks up on you slowly which makes RAD possibly more damaging over time.

You do tend to slow down some. I have really slowed down on creams, soaps, etc. because I have so much, even in my modest stash. But you do find other things to acquire. Let's face it...a straight razor, properly cared for, isn't going to spoil or expire.
I have RAD pretty bad right now. Had my first DE shave last week, now I have 2 razors at home, and 7 on their way. One thing about vintage Gillette razors, once you have tried one, you want to try them all. :)

This is my first post here.I must admit that AD's are one of my many weaknesses.I have collected an impressive collection of vintage fishing reels which I am attempting to master. To me safety razors are equally fascinating. My wife loves it.;);)
