Man kanske skulle testa att skriva på ytterligare ett språk? Oder Deutch? Aber mein Deutch ist nicht zu gut :(

Well, Hebrew, French, German and English is good enough I'd say! :1respect

Thanks, Johan! Also, I speak Arabic, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Greek, Italian, and Spanish fluently. However, of all these languages, English is my weakest one. I went to only French schools in Israel, and I never spoke a word of English til I came to live in Montreal, but I still have trouble with it sometimes. I often have to use a dictionary to post. I only have about 80% fluency in English, and that's not good enough. You seem to speak it a lot better than I do! :1respect :1respect

Oh, I'd give that extra 5 or 6% up easily for any being able to speak any of those! I did take French classes, but due to an overcrowded schedule I had to drop something and French got the shortest straw :( About the only things I remember are:

Je suis Johan
Monsiur Martain est malade
Je ne parle pas Francais

Probably got that wrong too :p

Thanks, JoAnna, but believe me, I have trouble. I have a very heavy accent, which itself is a bother, and the fact that Corinne cannot speak it at all compared to me doesn't help either. On the other hand, my parents speak flawless English, because they live in Florida, and they don't speak French, just Hebrew, English, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Yiddish. Corinne understands English perfectly, but seems blocked when she has to answer in it. Myself, I can do it, but sometimes I have a very hard time, especially if I've been speaking only French during the day, as I usually do.

Johan, it's better than you think, my friend! How is it your English is so good?

For some reason, English has always come easy to me. In Sweden they don't dub foreign language shows on the TV, they are subbed. So we are confronted with English from the day we start watching TV ;) And nowdays they start learning English in 1st grade. I guess most people here are quite good at English. Personally I would consider it a "first language" for me.. but (or rather "fortunately") I speak it with a heavy british accent ;)

wow, even nicer! I'm told I have a very heavy Arabic accent when I speak it, and when I tell people I'm Israeli, they have trouble believing me. Strangely also, in Israel, most kids today are anglophones, I'm Francophone however!

How come? I knew French influence was strong in Lebanon, but I thought the British/English influence was quite big in Israel...

yes, it is, but I went to the only French school in the neighbourhood, because it was a private school mom and dad sent me to. It's true however, Lebanon is very francophone. Israel today, is very anglophone. English is even considered an official language. Most of us Israelis are fluent in Arabic as well. I know 4 dialects of Arabic as well as Hebrew, and French, and without trying to brag, I also know large parts of the Koran by heart.
