Thanks guys, I consider it bad form to start this thread myself so I was sort of hoping someone else would start it for me and thankfully someone did. I understand that I have a tendency to repeat myself a lot, I do that in the real world so I beg forgiveness here. I have never started a thread up to this point on a topic where I know the answer. All of them I have no idea what the answer is and hope to get the answer from all you folks out there.

My Super Speeds are doing excellent for me at the moment but I am still wondering about the straight razor. It is true that with a three year old son in the home I simply can not run out and spend $100 on a razor that I may or may not like. I may see about getting in on that trial straight, there is enough instructions on Straight Razor Place to give me some confidence that I have an idea of how to shave with the razor.

I am like Qhsdoital, I am a bit of a perfectionist, I want the best possible whave that I can get. I want my wife to be unable to keep her hands off my face its soo smooth. I also hate the fact that I need to keep buying blades from merchants and I understand that what I am talking of is the straight. I am hoping that the straight can get me a better quality shave then my Super Speeds do.

You certainly don't have to spend £100 just to try it. You can find perfectly good straights for less (that would do the job just as good as $100 one). But when you know you want to go down that line, THEN you can consider one of those! OTH IF you invest in a high-end razor, chances are that you could sell it and get most of your money back if you decide it's not for you.

I also hate the fact that I need to keep buying blades from merchants

IF this really is an issue you might want to consider stropping your DE blades. Why people dispose of the blade is mainly because they are so cheap to replace, but properly cared for (as you would with a straight) they'd last much longer, maybe not "for life", but way longer than you probably would think.
