I have actually heard of these RFID chips from others sources in the IT community so this is not really far fetched for me. I have also heard of Gillette's name used in conjunction with these chips from the IT community. I don't buy Gillette products becuase they don't seem to work on me. Not because I am boycotting Gillette in any way, there products don't work on me.

Who needs Gillette! :p :p
The RFID tracking is a real thing. But I doubt Gillette uses it for anything besides shipping/inventory tracking. You have to be quite close to a chip to read it, so it's not like they can track where you're going with your new bought Gillette products.
But in general the concerns about privacy issues in conjunction with RFID chips are valid, IMO. Perhaps not at the moment, but it could easily become a problem.

I don't think the concern from the link is tracking where consumers go.
I'm pretty sure it was the RFID would cause pictures to be taken when you pick up a Gillette package, and also again when you pay for the product.

Personally, I dislike anything RFID. Even tough you need to be "close" and have the correct equipment and can't connect x to y.. It is the fact that it just MAY do all those things, now and, even more so, in the future. The are weaning us to accept this as an emerging technology, but the potential is beyond imagination.
Sorry for the rant, but I don't like RFID :p

I was at a Wal Mart Supercenter here in town yesterday, and like I do every time I'm in a supermarket () I check out the shaving stuff aisle. Same stuff every time, but that doesn't stop me from checking.
I'm such a nerd, I bent down and inspected the shelving underneath the racks of razors and blades. I'm happy to report that I did not see any micro-cameras mounted to the underside of the shelving... although the conspiracy theorist in me says that the cameras are now probably super-microscopic, and that what I saw (or didn't see) was exactly what They WANT us to believe. :D

although the conspiracy theorist in me says that the cameras are now probably super-microscopicYou know, there was this shaving docu on National Geographic where they showed some footage from Schick's research labs. They use tiny tiny cameras in the lab, so tiny so they fit in the head of a razor allowing them to film how the hair is cut by the multiple blades.
It was pretty cool.

I bet Gillette has that in VEERY Fusion cartridge, along with transmitters, that sends every single shave to the Procter and Gamble Tower of Power for scrutiny! And then they pair that with the photos taken at the time of purchase.. this is turning in to something like "Enemy of the state"...

In NoVa you have to use heavy duty since you are so close to the source (U.S. Gov) You can also make a long chain using paper clips attached to your belt. Make sure the chain touches ground. That way you will stay grounded from the beams.

More on RFID can be read in Wired (http://news.wired.com/dynamic/stories/C/CHIPPING_AMERICA_III?SITE=WIRE&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2008-01-26-12-16-58)
With tags in so many objects, relaying information to databases that can be linked to credit and bank cards, almost no aspect of life may soon be safe from the prying eyes of corporations and governments, says Mark Rasch, former head of the computer-crime unit of the U.S. Justice Department.

Don't scoff.. I wore a lead codpiece in 1974. I was a student of Radiologic Technology, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine. I was 22 years old...I figured a piece of pliable lead molded round a hard cup jock strap would add more pluses from danger to my successors.
The wee old ladies would bring me tomatoes and fruit from their gardens to help ward off xrays...
