I know this will be difficult for most. If you had to pick just one razor, one blade, one brush, and one cream, what would you pick ?

Let's see...one razor/blade...guess that'd be a Wade & Butcher Diamond Edge 7/8 w/barber's notch. One brush...how about a Kent BK4. One cream? Right now it's Truefitt & Hill 1805.

I'm getting close to my goal of having only one of each. In less than a month, I dropped to four razors from 25, to five brushes from 14 and to one soap from four. In the next couple of weeks I plan to get down to only one of each or perhaps I'll keep a backup razor and brush in the closet.

Musgo

That's pretty much where I am now. I actually prefer the shave i get from Molle and the scent of Taylor's Rose, but Musgo is the best at covering all the bases (performance, scent and ease of use).

I don't miss my brush. Molle does not work with one and Musgo and Proraso are markedly better without it. Only Taylors seems to like the brush, but its fingertip performance is not driving me to spend long green on badger hair.

Well Alllllrighty then,

I will vote for:

The Razor: ANY 1957 or earlier GILLETTE Super Speed...their handles don't rattle ! "Ain't a bit of doubt about it" (with a name like SuperSpeed?).

The Blade: hmmm, I suppose a Dorco ST300 (It'll NEVER bite you!)

The Brush: another tough call, I'll go with a short-to-mid loft, small-to-medium knot Omega "Pure Badger" like their model 6223, 6224 for example.

The Cream: Proraso Classic Green.

Not the most expensive, exotic or exciting selection...but IF (and only if) I had to choose just one...

There you have it!

Almost like asking: "If you had to lose ONE finger..." ;)

Razor: Merkur Slant 37G
Blade: Feather
Brush: Vulfix 2234
Cream: C.E. Bigelow
ASB: Nivea for Sensitive Skin

I've only been at this for about two months now and this collection is pretty much what I started out with. The cream and brush are the only ones I've tried. I do have some D.R. Harris Lavender on the way. I've put a Schisler custom brush on my Father's Day/Birthday gift list. The razor is a successor to a Futur. It's by far a better shaving tool in my opinion. The blade is my current favorite out of a rather large sample pack. However, the quest for a better shave goes on.

Welcome to TSD, smoothie6 (can we call you slick for short?:D)

The gold Slant is indeed an excellent (and classy-looking) tool, IMHO. With a Feather blade ( or any good sharp blade) they give me an excellent shave, and are really good at ATG.

Because Feathers have become price-fixed, I suggest you consider the Astra Superior Platinums, or the Treet Blue Specials. The Zorric blades are quite sharp as well. Look here (http://www.razorandbrush.com/barberiablade.html) for these, and check out the blade sampler packs (http://www.razorandbrush.com/Sampler.html) as well. You might try #2 and add a pack of Zorric to it.

I also have a Futur and a Vision, and like to shave with them also. But I must admit that these three razors all require different techniques, and it may be best to stick to one until you gain experience.

Missed it, it's easy to bring it back!

What I like so far:
Razor: Gillette Red Tip
Blade: 7 AM
Brush: impartial b/w Tweezerman and the generic chinese one that came with my stand
Soap: Ogallala Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn
Cream: Proraso
(Very close call with the TSD Signature soap and TSD Lavender Cream, and I'm not just kissing the butt.)

I really like choices, as you can see in my den, but if I had to choose:
razor is hard, but I would say vintage Merkur Progress
Blade would have to be red box persona. Love em.
brush would be hand made by me. :) currently between brushes.
cream would be JM Frasers.
soap would be TSD Lime Ice Cream
Aftershave would be TSD Iced Lime

So, do I just post again once they all change? Might start to look like the SoS thread. :happy102

My Razor - Merkur Slant It makes me take my time
The Blade - Feather I'd be a bleeding idiot if I didn't take my time.
The Brush - The one I bought from Em's Place. It's kind of a no namer but its Super Badger and it makes lather quick and feels good on me mug.
The Lube - It's a toss between C&E's Sandlewood Soap and Proraso Green.
I love the smell of Sandlewood not to mention I get a great shave using it but the menthol of the Proraso feels great and does a great job too.
After Shave - Just a splash of Thayers Witch Hazel
Cologne - The Art of Shaving Sandlewood Cologne
