Just a preference. I use both creams and soaps, but for some reason i reach for creams more often. If they are in tubes, you can have more....cause they take up less space :P
My intrepretation:
Creams = more cushion for the pushin' (more forgiving and lux)
Soaps = Slicker for faster, closer shaves

Hmm, I have one razor that tends to cut me more often than the others. Perhaps I need to be using a cream with that one.

For me, I find that the cream gives a more moisturizing lather and doesn't dry out as quickly. Of course, my cream experience is limited to The Gentlemen's Quarter cream but even compared to her soaps, it holds true. And her creams are infinitely better than any other soap I've tried for the same reasons.

I can see that creams offer more in the terms of scents and the lather.
What is a common drug store cream brand name? I may run over to CVS and get some on my lunch hour.

Try one of Rick's Screams. Best of both worlds. I've had the opportunity to try a few and was very happy with the results. Like always IMHO and so on. The trick with marrying any two scented products is the resulting scent. So, be careful what you choose to put together. Rick's hit some good combinations.

I have two that are curing as well. They should be good combinations. I had the blessing of Rick of course...and he was with me in the lab developing my combinations.

Check a dollar store for some travel containers. I get a set that includes 3 tiny tubs for a dollar.
And of course, Wal-Mart has some travel containers, but they tend to be pretty big.

I use both soaps and creams. But I stick to good triple milled soaps from DR Harris usually. I get equally good shaves with a somewhat different "experience". Some gents have been known to put a very small dab of cream in with the soap to create.....Super Lather. ;)

I'm not sure why I prefer creams... maybe I just like digging out cream with my finger. Maybe I like smearing said cream across my face and enjoying the fragrance for a moment before my brush hits it. Maybe I've got the process of using creams down better than using soap. I do use Tabac soap once in a while, but I just prefer creams.

When I started, I preferred creams (after using Williams soaps for forever). I find them easier to lather. I guess I'd have to say that I've moved on though as, most days, I seem to reach for one of JoAnna's awesome TSD soaps.
Today though, Harris Arlington soap and Musgo cream (hey, the scent has to come from somewhere!) superlather. Excellent!

I rotate back and forth between creams and soaps. I used to be an exclusive cream user, then I became a 90% soap user, but now, I'm about 50/50 on both creams and soaps.

I prefer the lathering vs soap especially while I travel. Just seems easy to use
