Spam pm's

Today we had a user with 0 posts send out spam pm's to a few random members.

The user has been banned and i've taken a few measures to help prevent this from happening again.

There is now a lower number for the amount of pm's you can send out at one time. New users will also have to make a couple posts before being able to SEND pm's. Their ability to receive pm's will not be affected.

Actually, as spam goes, this wasn't bad. I actually bookmarked this person's website, which had some interesting quotations and links. I'm no fan of spam (spam spam wonderful SPAM), but what I received came at a time when i could actually profit (not in the material sense, of course) by reading.

I recognised the text, I think there's someone behind that site who has a bot running who spams people with PMs on any forums the bot can get into.

Exactly. We have bots try to get in here everyday. A few make it past the screening, most don't.
