I was actually thinking of that..but getting to someone like bill to make one.....a blade along the lines of the length of a DE blade.

What advantages do you see in the small size?

I don't think such a small blade would be practical for about.. 85% of the people around. Maybe fine work at best...

Is it small or does the guy holding it have really big hands?

I wish Bill would chime in. I'm really interested in this.
Does anyone think it would be a usable razor, or not?

I'd say normal hands, SMALL razor.

I can't see how it would personally.. unless it is really meant for detail work like I said above.
I think it's a normal sized razor. Here's a pic of me holding a normal 7/8. which is definitely longer than my 5/8 and 6/8 razors (obviously in blade width, but also in length).
Edit: I measured the razor, it's 16.5cm when closed.

OK, I measured the one straight I have laying around here, and this one is smaller than the auction one.
Auction straight is 10" long when open
My straight is 9 1/2"
Auction razor is 6 1/2" closed
My straight is 6" closed
So, the auction razor is not a mini straight, but gosh I was all excited about the idea for awhile there. :(

Umm, I don't claim to know the first thing about straight razors. But I do have a few that I've picked up here and there. (One of these days, I might even have the nerve to USE one.)
I do know a bit about rulers though. According to the listing, this razor is 6.5" long closed and 10" open. So are all of mine, give or take.
All of mine are "minis" too?
I'd actually love to try a really short straight. Perhaps eventually I could get someone to grind down a razor I have...
