Introducing, The Shave Den Toolbar.
Virus and spyware free
Synchronized radio (many genres, listen to the same music as your other pals from TSD at the same time)
Email Notification (works with hotmail, gmail, yahoo, and pop3
Weather for your area
Live access to newly active threads from the forum
Forum relevant links
Search bar, with a drop down to search google (default), dictionary, encyclopedia, google images, google news, shopping, ebay, and weather
News Ticker: Hosted off TSD, gives you news about the forum in times of outage, and special sales in the TSD store for toolbar users.
Supports firefox (all stable releases) and explorerUnlike some toolbars, this one is easy to uninstall. For explorer users, it's listed in add/remove programs. Listed as an "addon" in firefox, for one click removal.
I really liked the idea of listening to the same music as a friend while surfing.
The toolbar also will generate a small amount of money for the forum when using the search bar. Some of the normal google ads are replaced by tsd sponsored ads. If you come across one that interests you and click on it, we make a small amount (sometimes less than a penny).
Note about the radio function: Some users will have to download an additional patch. When trying to use the radio, if you get the yellow triangle in the radio window, click it, and it will lead you through the rest. Only required once.

The email feature is great! I have 2 gmail accounts, and the email checker can handle both. Plus, it automatically logs me into whichever account I click on.
The links are cool, too! An even easier way to navigate the site.
You can even use the search box to search TSD specifically.
I'm very impressed! Way to go, Bobby! :1respect
We'll definetly have to make use of the News Ticker for TSD's store first sale. After the first of the year I think.

It doesn't work with safari, but it should work for the mac version of firefox. The exception for mac of the radio. The radio uses active-x (windows media player). The bar should load for mac with firefox, just no radio.
Course shoulda, and woulda, doesn't always mean real world. Blair, what happened when you tried? What version OS are you running?

I have an older machine that I have upgraded, and am running OS X 10.4 (Tiger). I can't download and run .exe files, since I don't run a third-party Windows shell or have the Intel processor. No worries.

Fantastic. Thanks for the effort!!
As a side note on the radio, is it possible to listen to the classical guitar station. I think it's 181fm that I use to listen to it at work.
UPDATE: I just found that I can add the SKY radio classical guitar station through the Add Station feature. Way cool!
UPDATE2: just did the same with the 181fm guitar station. :)

181fm has a lot of really nice stations. Do you know which one in particular you are looking for?
I thought being able to add most any streaming radio station a nice feature. I tried to start it out with a few decent presets. We'll be running a few toolbar only sales in the near future. I really like the way it can search several different sites through the toolbar. For me, it took the place of several of my bookmarks.

I went back and loaded the Mac version for Firefox. You're right, no radio, but then I have iTunes. Otherwise, very nice, though.

Johan, I use Safari too but its not my main browser I like the slick design of Firefox and that anything you need you can tweak and install it.

I really like the email feature, too.
I have 3 emails accounts being tracked with the toolbar. 2 of those I use to not check for weeks on end, and would miss important messages sometimes. Not now. :happy088

Same here at work I have it installed on my XP Pro Acer Laptop Firefox .
Now that I have ended my ISP's contract where I was over 11 years ! yes means I have build up an email database for around 11 years now that it has died and I havent really activated my new ISP's email adress and frankly I dont want it to get out too much im relying heavily on my Gmail account
I used to hate remembering the login PW and kept going to my old webmail account to only realise at the last second ah I dont have it anymore.
So I became aware only this week I have the TSD Toolbar to the rescue ! I can see new emails in 1 click how refreshing ! and retard me I went to the TSD site the old way by bookmark and tried to get in I messed up my Log /password and had to wait for 15 minutes till I woke up from my Coma this week and figured YOU IDIOT I can click on my TSD Toolbar and im there !
On Mac I wouldnt use it so much because my Mail program is always open and it polls emails from all my accounts every 2 minutes. but when im at work I would not combine my private email accounts with my prof. work accounts in outlook so this is a great solution and you support TSD aswell win -win situation.

I downloaded the tool bar and installed it in January. Everything works but the threads. It keeps loading the first 14 threads from January, delete em, they come back. Any thoughts?

Yep, Windows Vista. The same threads are back today. I mark them as read, dunp em and they are back the next day. :(
Maybe I'll uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.

Hey Steve. I got rid of those by clicking on the little black arrow next to "The Shave Den" in the toolbar, then clicking "Toolbar options".
And then un-clicking the box next to that option. :happy088

You can hide it by clicking the down arrow just to the right of The Shave Den, then select Toolbar Options, then Predefined Components. Then of course, you don't see it at all. I don't know if you can stop the scrolling.

Glad to help. I expect Sparky will be along to let you know if it's possible to leave it visible but stop the scrolling. I doubt if it is...it IS called a Ticker after all :). The original intent was to have a place for announcements and such.
