Result: 4.6/5.0 Although it was a little rushed, I just love this set up. The cream explodes all over the place, the scent, the smoothness. Close to my go to set up. The Shavemac brush really shows the C&E cream to it's best. I love it too when I rinse my face between passes and my skin isn't dried out but slick feeling.

Repeat after me: Though shalt go light on a Slant/Feather combo. Though shalt go light on a Slant/Feather combo. Two weepers in the left neck hollow. Ninja shave. Should have stretched the neck a little in there better and lighten up the pressure and make the angle a little shallower. No harm. Just a little roughed up. On a good note, my ear is all healed. Should have stuck an earring in there for Pirate Day. I was half way there. Erasmus Soap is nice. Wish the bowl was a little bigger. That's why I went to a small brush today. Nice smelling and a little better than average performance.

Vulfix Sicilian Limes is my one and only limes shaving cream (I have no limes soap). I know as a wet shaver I’m supposed to adore the scent of limes, but it’s just not happening. However, I get these urges when I read about others raving, obsessing, demanding all manner of wet shaving products in the limes scent and I get caught up in the excitement of the moment and I grab my Vulfix Sicilian Limes shave cream, and lather up with great gusto and shave my face! Well, then I calm down and remember that I’m not nuts about limes and the Vulfix Limes goes back on the self until the next uncontrollable urge sweeps over me.

Sure thing :cool:
Take your desired amount of alcohol (I used 40-60% grain alcohol), add the menthol crystals and heat the mixture up for a short moment (otherwise the menthol won't combine with the alcohol and not show any effect). Then add some allspice/pimento fruits (or whatever they're called) and let the whole thing soak for 2-3 months or so at a semi-sunny space at the windowsill. Finally add some (~1/8th -1/16th of the amount of alcohol) glycerine to the mix and you're ready to go. Smells like BayRum (Allspice belongs to the same family of plants), cools, soothes and has antiseptic properties ::
You can also leave the allspice-"balls" in the mix, you don't have to take them out after the 2-3 months. Alternatively you can also use real bay-leaves, but they're unavailable where I live whereas you can get allspice pretty much everywhere and cheap.

The QED Vetiver is a bit strong and odd smelling in the tub but once you put it on your face it mellows out nicely. Lot's of lather, good slickness and glide. It has a decent amount of cushion. I was a bit weird today and used Musgo Real ASB as my balm and topped it with Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel. For some reason, it worked even though it was after I used a Vetiver soap. OK, well, maybe I was asleep when I made the choices. I don't know. I do know, my face smells nice and feels good. The rough patch from yesterday is fine. Another day and all gone. Price you pay for experimenting.

Result: 4.6/5.0 BBS and didn't cause any more damage. That's a good thing. Kent Milled Shave Soap is very hard and needs softening up with a little bit of water beforehand and use lots of water when making lather. This soap will dry you out so don't skimp on hydration. When it's properly wet, it makes everything glide with ease. The ACD-N loved this soap. The Merkur Slant almost had nothing to do.

*Less water gave an even more slick and comfortable shave. Almost cream thick lather!

** This thing is wicked sharp. The easiest razor I have honed so far. Either I’m getting better or this is one easy razor to hone up. And I managed to cut myself on my left cheekbone. I got complacent and this blade bit me pretty hard. About ½ in. long to 15 min. took stop the blood flow.

Had a multitasking-shave today:

Got up way too late - I overslept. While I got dressed I already gathered my shaving gear, headed to the bathroom and let the water run until it got hot. Washed my mug with soap and lathered up with my BK4 and New Karo Sensitive cream. Still rubbing the brush around my face I turned on the 'puter and made coffee. First pass, with my Liese Slant and a Treet Platinum blade. While lathering up for the second pass I entered my password at my computer, afterwards I let follow 2 more, quick passes. I rinsed, applied Aqua Velva Musk and Armani Aqua di Gio ASB, got my cuppa joe, checked my mails and went to do some important things before I drove to town to pick up a buddy of mine for a shopping tour.

I only needed around 10 minutes for the whole shave and all the other things I did during shaving but I was rewarded with a mighty clean and stubble-free face :D

Well, I haven't really started to look around for Bay leaves, but they don't carry them at the local grocery store (or any other local store, that is). But pimento works just as well :D

Have a look with the florist too.. I have a friend that have a Bay-tree on the window sill, so I can get leaves as fresh as they ever could come!

Today I used my FatBoy for the first time! And.. I learned a lesson too :ashamed001

I started the lather with my EJ Aloe soap, worked up a nice batch that would be enough for a good 2 pass shave.

I had loaded the FatBoy with a W1 Gillette Thin Blade. And then I started the shave...

EEK! The blade chugged across my face, no scars, but this was a horrible experience! Halfway through the 1st pass I decided this couldn't continue, changed the blade to a Feather.. and BLISS!

The FatBoy notched to 3 with a Feather was just superb!

I'll try again tomorrow, maybe the fantastic sensation only was in contrast to the chugging of the "Thin Blade".

I really liked the weight and feel of the FatBoy compared to the SS.

Result: 4.0/5.0 OK, the numbers don't show it but it was a wonderful shave. C&E Sweet Almond Oil creams come through again. The fault was me pushing the envelope with the Feather ACD-N. Damn, I got a close shave though. It's those tiny little nooks and crannies, even with stretching that make it so tough. I'm learning though. All this will pay off in the end when I do more with str8s. Each time I pick a str8 up my technique gets better.

Nope. I halved my beard last week. The results were definitely unsatisfying on the cheek and neck areas. I haven’t tried the Van Dyke yet, I’m afraid to cut too much. I posted this photo just because it was there, unloved.

I take it you were in Mass at the time? ;) Hey, it was no big deal. Just got a couple of days off work. Didn't even lose power. :D

Matter of fact, we had just moved into the house one week before...from an apartment. Talk about a shock! I hadn't shoveled snow in years and was faced with two feet of it - 4' in some places! I have a snowblower now. :eek:

Almost the same as yesterday...why mess with success?! :D

Actually, the Thayer's is "Original (Astringent)" with 10% grain alcohol, though I don't notice the booze. I also use their Lavender and Rose and maybe it's my imagination, but this one just doesn't feel the same. Not bad, just different. Anyone else notice that?

I have to say, TOBS Rose Cream never ceases to amaze me. I would say it shaves as good as my C&F Lavender cream at a fraction of the cost..has to be one of the best values in cream.

Got the Injector razor and blades yesterday from a forum member, shaved with them this morning. My first attempt wasn't so hot. I had heard and read about the aggressive nature of the early Injectors, so took it nice and light, maybe TOO light: I still had lots of stubble left even after 4 passes. Not as much angle play with this sort-of fixed head, so perhaps I'll try just a wee bit of pressure next time.

Overall though, I thoroughly enjoyed it! It's kind of a cross between a DE shave and a cartridge shave... interesting.

I hadn’t used my HD in a long time and now I feel like I’m having a second honeymoon with it. Paired with a Derby blade, this razor is giving me a smoother shave than my SS. And, the Lilac Ice shave soap is my kind of soap! I may shave with this combination for the rest of the week.
