So as I understand the beginning brush-loading part of Methodshaving, you prime the brush on a 100% Olive Oil based Cube of soap. Would Issy's 100% OO soap be essentially the same thing? Would the 80% be the same?
Anyone know?

Funny you ask. I used Issy's soap in a Method shave this morning...
The shave itself was very good, but building a wet mix with my Shavemaster was kind of tough. 100% OO doesn't lather with a lot of volume, so the result a "goopy" mix that I had to really work with. Despite that, it shaved pretty well and I'm not knocking Issy's soap at all, worked great in the bath and is a very well made soap, just not for Method Shaving IMHO.
As usual, YMMV

Interesting. Appreciate the timely response. ;)
So what separates The Cube from other Olive Oil soaps? Is there a special composition of other ingredients?

The Cube is NOT 100% Olive Oil.
I need clarification, but I think its somewhere between 70-85% Olive Oil.
I have used Issy's OO soap for a method shave, and it worked well, but I agree with Mike - it doesn't "lather" the way you would want it to for a shave. Hard to describe, the lather you get with the 100% Issy soap is more of a slurry then a lather. Very moisturizing, but I wouldn't shave with it ;)

So then, like, Issy's 80% might be a closer match to The Cube?

Yeah, lather is kicked up big time with the 80%......plus it has Babassu Oil so it has a nice, clean, natural scent to it (without being "Fragranced")

Actually I think the cube is a mix of Olive and Palm oils, along with a few other things that give it the unique characterstic that it has.

Im thinking the 80% OO with some clay might just be great for shaving, I have used it for shaving and it worked quite well. I tried it with a few drops of glycerin on it and it was even better....back to the lab..lol
