This is a reverse haul. I gave a starter pack of shave items to a really nice guy named John who owns and runs the only authentic NY pizza parlor within 50 miles of me. The man knows pie and his customer service it excellent. We got to talking about shaving one day somehow and I surprised him yesterday with a starter set up when I went to pick up an x-large 1/2 pepperoni 1/2 meatball pie for dinner. He used to shave with a Gillette TTO and moved to cartridge a number of years ago. He missed it.

Not saying you did anything wrong, but I would have given the man what he knows, would have stuck with the Gillette and the particular model that he used previously. Don't know yet how my pop likes the super speed I gave him for his birthday as yet.

And of course, the basics of DE shaving are still the basics, no matter what razor he used previously, or what razor he uses now. ;)

I don't really know anything about straights, this was another drunken Ebay purchase. I hate it when the computer is on when I get home late on friday.
Soon I have some great cufflinks and tie clips coming, it is my new AD. I wonder if there is a forum for it.

After several airport delays, I finally returned from FLA to find this waiting for me from Lee. The Duke 3 is replacing my Duke 2 which is going back to Lee because it is a shedder (after 8 months or more the hairs just kept coming out. Sometimes as many as 10-15 at a time) so I thought I'd get the Duke 3 instead. Lee was great about taking back the Duke 2. No problem whatsoever. I'm very excited to try them both. Hopefully, I have better luck with these. (The 1805 I bought in FLA).

Hiya gang. Ghsdoital, Jim @ vintageblades sent me a sample, it was all downhill from there. After shaving with it, I imediately went to his site to purchase it, to my chagrin it was $35 a tub :(
Passed on it, but it's been haunting me since, so I succumbed to the force LOL. It's a strange bird, it's harder than a cream, and softer than a soap..I'm thinking the best way to attack the tub is like a soap, loading up the brush from the tub. Thats the way C&F says to do it in the included literature.
Anyway, in my limited experience, it's the best cream I've ever sampled. I loves the stuff..

Ya but I'm saving up other tings like my wife's and daughter's Christmas presents. Darn dog, who I love dearly, is at the vet as we speak with a $400 bill already. He hurt his jaw somehow. My sister called and told me what the legal bill was going to cost on a family matter. Never ends. On a good note, I just got an old aristocrat I'm shining up perty like. Case sucks but the razor is very decent. Cost me less than that jar of cream we're discussing and it will last me 100 years or until my death whichever comes first. :D

That's good because I have about 100 pictures I need to take or steal, post them to my shaving photo album, link the photo to a product page, and then update the shave locker with the links so that when I post an SOD it will link to the product that people can see. I'm tired of posting just SOD text but I can't take a photo a day and post it. Too awkward and time consuming.

My latest acquisition:
http://kn-dental-ceramics.com/2Arrow.jpg
http://kn-dental-ceramics.com/2Arrow_2.jpg
The scales are beautiful, aren't they? In case you're wondering, this is a 6/8" hollow ground brand new razor. A Double Arrow. Never heard about? Me neither! It's made in China, and I bought it from Poland. Where else would I look for a Chinese razor that can't be found at Wal-mart? :D If anyone stumbles over information about these razors, please let me know. I tried to research it on the net, - nothing! Doesn't seem to exist! Well, I saw it on the Polish eBay site that sells our beloved Wapis. Therefore I thought, this guy has a good reputation to loose, hence he will not sell crap. I paid a whopping $8.90 + shipping for it. To justify the shipping, I ordered two.
Got them after about a week, cleaned off the protective oil, and started honing. Folks, if you want to feel like a honemeister, this is the way to go! You just need to show this razor to the hone, it will sharpen instantly, - well, almost. It took me about 5 minutes, and I'm certainly not an expert in honing. Pyramid on Norton 4/8k 10/10, 5/5, 3/5, 1/5, 1/5. Then maybe 30 rounds on the Spyderco UF, 30 on the hanging treated (backside) strop, 50 on the front (blank leather), and test shave. I must admit, I was a bit nervous. To my surprise the shave was outstanding! Hard to believe, isn't it? Next day (this morning) I wanted to see if I killed the edge with my shave from the day before, since the metal seemed very soft while honing. So, I did my regular routine, 50 on the regular strop and go. Result: the same great shave as yesterday! Wow! I think this blade deserves a re-scaling! If it wasn't for the somewhat intimidating weight and size, it would be a great budget newbie razor.

I got it from eBay. It was an older model. I thought he used it more often. I used it about 7 times and it was one of my better straights.
The only other thing I know about Double Arrow is that they are chinese and that once I found one online in an Australian shop.
