After many recommendations from several of you, I purchased some of the Almond Glow Skin Lotion. I really enjoy the product, but I am a little concerned about how heavy an oil the product is. When comparing to L'Occitane Almond skin oil, I find the Almond Glow product much more viscous (thick). Will it clog pores, cause facial blemishes? I also like the fact that the L'Occitane product lightly foams when massaged into the face. Seems to provide a cleansing sensation along with a beard prep.

Has anyone tried mixing a light foaming facial cleanser into the Almond Glow? This is what I want to try next, but I am looking for some recommendations.

Jim, I've been using it every day since I got it.....and I agree, it is heavier than straight almond oil.

But, all the oils in there are NON-comedogenic. So there shouldn't be any pore-clogging effects.

I only use a very small amount.

Oh yeah!!! - I know lots of 5 syllable words - I just can't remember them right now!

Non-comedogenic: Also called non-occlusive. Refers to products that do not cause skin breakouts because they do not plug the pores of the skin.
Non-comedogenic: (Non-occlusive) Does not plug the pores of the skin.

The beneficial, non-comedogenic oils include Apricot Kernel, Avocado, Almond, Coconut, Peach Kernel, Soy Bean, Jojoba, Sunflower, Peanut, Safflower, Sesame, Lecithin, Olive, Wheat Germ, etc.

Thanks TJ - I still want to try and add a light foaming cleanser to this - call it my science project.

I enjoy a good science project, let me know how it goes :D

I usually put it on sometime towards the end of the shower, and by the time I get ready to shave my face is real slick. The whiskers softened too, from the Lanolin.

Then, I lather up with a brush, which removes most (but not all) of the oil, leaving behind a slight barrier of protection from the blade. ::

As do I. but then I try to do my in shower hot towel and then rinse. I have to say, face is very smooth post shave. Excellent product. Pricey at Whole Foods (not as much as L'Occitane) - found on line for 1/2 as much, but with shipping????

Commenced Almond Glow experiment

Good MK Vitamin Facial Soap lather in hand, added almond glow to palm (about the size of a quarter.Massaged Face and rinsed. Very Moisturized finish - this is great. It is very similar to when I use the L'Occitane Shower Oil.

Face was smooth, but whiskers stood up. Shave was fantastic - using one of my most mild shavers. Keep following, next I will add a light foaming liquid facial cleanser.

I added a 1-1 mixture of the Lavender Almond Glow to MK Timewise Anti-Aging Cleanser. The anti-aging formula contains the antioxidant vitamin E, microbeads which smooth skin, and the firming effects of retinyl palmitate, a vitamin A derivative. I used the combination to oily skin version to counteract (a slight bit) the fact that I was adding this to almond oil. One of the things I did not like about the almond oil alone was how viscous it was.

After shaking, I found the mixture to feel good on the face and hands, lathered quite nice and my skin felt great. I needed to shake as the oil/soap mixture will separate when sitting in its container.

I then shaved with my normal procedure and had another great shave. Skin is smooth, moisturized and looks great. I am gong to use this mixture for a couple of weeks and will report back later.
