This weekend, while purchasing SWMBO gifts for anniversary, I was roaming the L'Occitane and discovered men's Vetyver. Never trying this before, I let the tester have its way with me. First take was - not too positive, but after several minutes of Body Chemistry Interaction, it was amazing, the gal in the store really liked it a lot (I know, its her job) but I got several compliments the rest of the day. I think I may be addicted.

Do you folks have any recommendations for Vetyver (Vetiver) other than L'Occitane. I would be willing to trade or purchase some decants??? I want to experiment.

I don't really have anything that I would be able to decant, but Guerlain Vetiver is pretty good. L'Occitane is one of my favs. On the pricier side Le Lebo/Labo(?) has a nice smoky Vetiver. Jo Malone makes one or two really good Vetivers. I've tried a whole bunch, and I finally settled on just using a tiny amount of vetiver EO that I got from Florabelle on Martha's Vinyard. Many of the scents available seem to water-down the vetiver with additional elements - Floris, and Creed come to mind. This is ok, but sometimes I just want to smell like QED Vetiver shave soap. That's when I reach for the EO. Good luck on your vetiver hunt! :drool

Musgo Classic includes vetyver, one of my favourite after shaves.

These are two great recommendations, I prefer the Musgo between them

i realize that you are asking in the pre and aftershave section, but if you think those are good, DO try salter's vetiver cream. you will not be disappointed.

Roger & Gallett Vetyver is also very nice. I wear it pretty often.

Creed Vetiver is an awesome one if they still make it. I have a bottle that has about 1oz left, but it is very old ~ circa 2000 or so and is green in color. I only wear it on very special occasions now. I know Nieman Marcus has one by Creed called Himalaya that is supposed to be Vetiver, but I'm not too sure.

Cheers!

Jim, email Floris for a sample and they'll send it to you for free. I'm liking mine and thinking about getting a bottle, but I'd like to try few other Vetivers first before I decide. If Floris doesn't send you a sample, let me know and I'll mail you the remaining of mine (about 1/2).

Floris still does sample packs, both men's and women's. Email Debra Courtright at 'florisoflondon@pobox.com'. And tell her I said "Hey"! She's wonderful to deal with!!

I also like the L'Occitane Vetyver. I also like Creed's Original Vetiver, but I am not a fan of the Floris Vetiver.
