Used the GEM as a three pass system this morning, normally only use it for the quickie one pass ATG when I'm in a hurry. Pretty good shave except right under the nostrils, broke out the Parker and carefully shaved with no lather because I'd already cleaned out the lather bowl and brush by the time I found these whiskers.

tried the new burt's bees aftershave balm...actually pretty nice (only used it once, so take it with a grain of salt). Smell was a lot like Speick with more citrus notes. At times smelled a bit like powdered lemonade mix. Took a while to absorb, but I could have applied too much. We shall see...

The wild rose was fantastic! Smelled like fresh rose petals (not overly sweet like cheap perfumes)...really fresh.

Result: 4.5/5.0 Pretty much normal shave. Two items. The Scentual Gardens bath soap is finished and although I consider it a decent soap, it is not the best latherer, rather gooey and has too much embedded scrubbing material for me. It is a scrubbing bar so that is to be expected. Take out the scrubbing material and I would like it more. The Burt's Bees Bay Rum Shave Soap was a first for me and I'm not impressed. The scent is really nice but once again, someone made a glycerin soap that is slick but does not have good cushion and lather that just disappears on your face when you blink. I even dumped the bowl after the first pass and redid it with just a damp brush and carefully added water. Same result. Oh, well.

Result: 4.4/5.0 Went a little light with the shave today. I had a that minor weeper yesterday and and a razor bump popped up after I posted yesterday. The result of trying different angles and skin stretches. No bumps, weeps or irritation today however. I'm on day 9 of this ACD-N blade. I could easily go another 3 maybe 4 days but I will toss the blade after tomorrow's shave.

Shower, washing face last
Apply Sopping-Wet hot towel for 2 minutes, refreshing with new hot water as needed. (while in the shower)
Rinse face with fairly hot water,
Apply EV-OO.
Re-Apply Sopping-Wet hot towel for 2 minutes, refreshing with new hot water as needed. (while in the shower)
Rub puck of soap on face like a shave stick (Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandelwood Shave Soap) Rub in with brush (Kent BK4 Silvertip Brush) for 30-60 seconds. Let stand another 30 seconds. Rub with fingertips.

I find the 4/8 a little more maneuverable around the nose and in the hollows of the neck, but I prefer the mass of the larger razor. It's nice for a little variety and changing the types and sizes helps keep the mind concentrated.

So much on all parts of the 2 strops was an experiment. The blade had a nice edge off the coticule, I wanted to see if the succession of surfaces would polish it a little better than straight to the leather. The canvas is a new surface for me to play with. This was an Ebay razor and was pretty dull. So far it feels pretty good. I'm learning.
