Ok, got a nice package from Penhaligon's today. First up, after a shower, English Fern, the fragrance that is all the talk on some of the shaving boards. I'm new to these higher end fragrances, so please bear with me, with that, here goes:

This is one mysterious scent. When I first put this stuff on, it smelled like Pine Sol, even my wife commented that it was almost repulsive. The initial scent, or what I'd call odor, is horribly strong. Now it get's wierd, about a half hour later it smells pretty good, at least a heck of a lot better than when I originally put it on. I guess this is "dry down?" Dunno if I'd drop $100 bucks for a bottle of this stuff, but I have to admit, it's starting to grow on me. Anyone else have any experience with this stuff?

Something just dawned on me, as I took a sip of me Extra Bergamot Earl Grey tea; Engish Fern is Earl Grey in tea form. Earl Grey tastes like English Fern Smells LOL..

Hi again Steve,

Are these samples the same deal as for Floris samples, do they send them for free?

Cheers

I just went and had a look at their site for myself, :angry021 they do not ship to Oz because of the alcohol content. How come they wont but Floris will?

So far the Endymion and Douro strike me as very nice. I'll post a reveiw once I get a chance to try them on for size. As far as shipping, see if they have an Oz distributor/number. I believe my samples came from New Jersey. Good luck.

Steve

P.S. We are becoming the masters of samples LOL.
P.S. How bout that Casey Stoner winning motogp? He looked unbeatable on the Ducati.

Haven't tried it yet, I'm learning that you can't judge a frangrance by sniffing the decant, you really have to wear it. I will definitely be trying them all WOOHOO!!

Ok, put some Hammam buguet on this morning, it does smell good, I'm going to do my best to describe it as floral? It is very pleasant. Not what I was expecting in a masculine cologne, but then again, I'm basing this on the mass marketed stuff we see at the malls. Not bad.

Hi Steve,

No such luck that I can find, I did a quick search but I could not find anything about Oz distributors.

Did you have to pay for the samples, or were they free? I see on their web site such things as scent libraries and gents fragrance collections but at a cost.

Yeah good to see our Casey (even though he still doesn't look old enough) win the motogp, and in this mornings paper Rossi is crying about his slow bike, and has threatened to leave Yamaha if they don't produce a better bike for him next year. It appears Mr Rossi is a bit of a sore loser and has gone out of his way to become very unfriendly towards Casey. I suppose it is all to do with gamesmen ship, but now that it's all done and dusted for this year the least he could do would be to congratulate him.

Cheers

Hey John, yep, the samples were free.

Yes, I thought it was awsome that Casey won, he had been looking good last year, and was spot on this year. Him and the Ducati really meshed and my hats are off to him. As far as Rossi, he's far from the dominant force he once was. I contribute that to a couple of things. First, competition; He's not the only fast guy anymore. There are a lot of very fast riders, any of which can win the title. The days of one rider dominating, as Rossi did earlier in his motogp career or over. There's just too many capable riders and 2nd; the bikes are getting pretty close as far as power, handling, etc. When Rossi first came to the 500's, he was on the Honda, and when they went to the 1000cc four strokes, the Honda was untouchable, clearly the best bike on the paddock..That isn't the case anymore, with the Yamaha.

Anyway, Rossi should have done the right thing and congratulated Stoner. I'm sure Stoner could care less though, he's the man, he's probably still can't believe it..But I think the next guy to watch is Pedrosa, the Spaniard. He's consistantly fast, once he gets more experience, he should be a force to reckon with..along with Stoner. Oh well..Next season should be amazing.
