Honestly? Not sure. I'm not an expert in scale construction. Probably Bakelite, or something like it. Not mother of pearl, not iridescent enough.

Gem Junior Brass Single Edged Safety Razor. $9. Cleaned up really well.
Update on 17 Distressed Safety Razors - I cleaned the rest of the razors up to see what was under all the crap. I was able to get most of them into pretty good shape. I did however scrap a 30s Gillette Brass Tech with knob end. It had cracks all over the place, the unknown str8 has a hairline crack near the tip so this is a practice honing project and the Gem Single Edged with wood handle had just too much metal fatigue. I was able to replace the Brass Tech with a really nice one so that was cool. The British Slim Twists both have decent heads but the plastic white slip on handles have cracks at the tips where it slides onto the head. I have to either super glue the cracks if possible or find some type of replacement handles either original or after market. The heads have a small grooved stem that slides/grips into the top of the handle. If I was handy with wood this would be an interesting project. I'm not handy at anything so that's out. :D

Try painting a little acetone (or nail polish remover) on those cracks in the plastic. When it softens, squeeze together, then use a small spatula to smooth it. Keep clamped until it's dry.

Yes. I've used that technique a few times, most recently on a couple of old Schick E-2 razors that had cracks in the plastic handle where it joins the head.
The acetone just softens the plastic and then you can re-mold it.

Floris soap = :drool The JF scent is great, but I'm not too sure about the elite just yet.
Bar none, the only soap that I've found to perform just as much protection as a cream but still allows me to get a closer shave as most soaps allow.

Thanks Fritz, I'll give that a try. Nothing lost if it doesn't work.
If I knew how to work in wood, this would be a great project to make new handles with a plastic sleeve insert in the top. Kind of like new scales on a str8. Oh well.

You're not the only one. I have to "restock" my soaps. I also got some peppermint on Issy's recommendation to use after I do my mid day work when I'm trying to shower and cool out before going back to my desk. The peppermint soap should help speed up the cool out process.

The only thing I would fault it on for a true pipe tool would be the pointed blade. As a knife/pipe tool combination it's really really nice. As a strict pipe tool, I would want a rounded blunt end scraper instead so as not to dig up the inside of the pipe. .

There are two types of Laguiole pipe tools. The one I acquired which includes a blade, a scraper, a poker and a tamper. Then there are those with no blade, like the one below:

Wait for my next pipe and my next coffee machine. :D And I still have to find that Partagas serie D n°4. And I still lack a decent ashtray and a lighter. And I still bla bla bla. :p
Spoke like a true ADholic. :D
Oh, and did I mention that I really really like your pipe knife/tool? ;)

Yup. Wooden Matches. I don't use a lighter either.

If the weather isn’t crappy tomorrow, I’ll pop over to the tobacconist.

I’m actually hesitating between three lighters. The first is a Dunhill Sport, but given its price it’s out of question (around $350~400). Then there’s a Dupont Xtend which I find more appealing than their classical models. Finally, there’s a Porsche that is really tempting. See pics below:

LOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL what can I say, Boubi! Enjoy the goodies, and watch your step with those Merkurs! I never realized you like Lavendor so much, I know it's still pretty popular in Israel. I should tell my aunt and uncle to send me a few more. I won't use them, but I could send them to you, because this way, they'll be put to good use. The Floid cream's good, daddy used it many years ago, but the tubes back then were bigger!

75 or so old stock Feather blades
GEM Minuteman
50 Ted Pella GEM blades
I think I will be shaving well for a while. :: The Minuteman is more for sitting around and looking purty than shaving with, I have some GEMs that I got tossed in eBoy lots for that purpose.

A little Saturday trip to TJ Maxx with the lovely wife. Clearance!
Olive Oil Soap from Italy, two pair of Sterling cufflinks and a stainless bowl which I'm told is for cotton balls in the bathroom but a refill of Crabtree and Evelyn fit right in with a nudge. Total $10.73! :D
