theperfumedcourt.com and luckyscent.com (avignon incense) I should have just ordered it all form Perfumed court, but you know how that goes LOL.

Yeah, as opposed to the normally recommended 2.612312412983519235 sprays per usual cologne,

I would keep Knize @ about 1.00000000000000895435823475........or even less

;)

If I like it, thats even better, it'll last a lot longer.

It'll definitely last, I still have a good portion of my 10mL sample from almost a year ago.

Hey gang, just an update, I've got all the samples. I kind of like the Avignon incense, it has a very unique scent, dunno if I like it enough to spend $75 on a bottle of it though.

Tam dao, hmm..dunno yet, smells kind of medicinal, like alcohol to me, but I have only smelled it in the container, I know it will smell different on me. I definitely need to apply this stuff after a shower and see how it is.

The Etro Messe de Minuit; smelled like something my grandmother would wear, almost like baby powder.

Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense - Kyoto; dunno yet, haven't really made a judgement on this stuff yet. Have to apply this stuff after a shower, and see what it's like once it settles down.

Hermes Terre D'Hermes; this stuff is pretty good, I have to investigate it further, but may be worth buying.

Floris Eau Santal Extreme; I like this stuff, kind of figured I would as I like the regular Santal. Dunno if I'm willing to spend $100 on a bottle of this though.

Knize Ten; this one definitely smells like a winner, will have to look at this one a little closer.

Ok, just wanted to update everyone. Now the disclaimer, I know absolutely nothing about cologne. I have a totally untrained nose, and couldn't even explain what I am smelling. Just a newbie trying to find something I like :o

Good to see that some of them might make the cut.

Always a good idea to get someone you trust to smell it too.. not every one smells correctly to others as it does to our own noses.

Hey Sejanus, yeah, I have to try all the samples a little more, see what I think, this was just an initial impression, which will probably change once I really get to try em out. Thanks again for the reply.

Yep for sure. I remember a number of years ago my Mother found a scent she absolutely loved and apparently it smelled wonderful on here... but after 3 days of wearing it migraines set in because of it.

I was lucky, first scent I tried worked amazing for me, gives me no issue and is very unique. Always good to have a signature!

Yep, a nice fragrance that you can wear all the time, and is unique, is kind of what I'm after. I don't know if this is taboo, but this thread on another board touting a new cologne has definitely got my attention:

Hi Neale, I will definitely keep you updated via this thread. I took a shower and applied some more Hermes Terre D'Hermes to my wrist, I tried to put enough on so that I could get a good sence of the smell, but I guess this stuff is a little on the weak side. I will have to load up with it some time and see how it works.

I do like the Avignon Incense, can't bring meself to spend $75 on a bottle, though. I have yet to really try out the kyoto or tam dao yet, I'll let you know how it works..

Now, I supposedly have some Penhaligon's samples coming soon, WOOHOO!! Will keep you updated.

I know I am off the subject a bit. :signs080 But its on the subject of samples. If you send a sellf addressed stampted envelope along with a request for free samples Givoanni at Razor and Brush will send you one free blade sample for each you request free. Great way to try different blade brands. :signs080:signs108

Hi All,
Somehow, my shaving journey of just under one year has occasionally taken me on a few detours......fragrances being one of em. I had a 'signature' scent that I wore for almost 15 years before finally tiring of it a few years ago. I never thought much about all the other great things for my nose to experience..........wasn't a big deal to me in the least. I'd walk by the perfume counters in the nicer stores and usually would never stop and sniff around.
I blame SHAVING for my increased awareness and appreciation for what surrounds my sniffer. Yeah, all these wonderful smelling soaps and creams really woke something up in me. Seriously, I'm MUCH more aware of the fact I DO enjoy wearing colognes, and have made the appropriate adjustments........heh. Yeah, for the last few months I've been occasionally buying a 'few' samples from www.theperfumedcourt.com (http://www.theperfumedcourt.com) and it's been a kick! The ladies (owners) have been very nice and there's been no problems dealing with em. Actually, the only problem I run into is narrowing down what I'm gonna order next from them....heh. One very handy thing they offer is the different grouping of fragrances by 'notes'. They also have sampler packs as well in each 'note'.
I also ordered from luckyscent in the past with good results, but they don't offer different sizes of samples.....just the small one is available. They DO have some notes from reviews, which is nice.
Perfumed court has a much larger choice of containers, ( hehe, I just yesterday received some more Diptique 'Tam Dao' and Creed 'Santal Imperial' in the quarter oz size atomizers). That should last me a while (for those frags anyway), but there's more new ones on the way for me to try as well.
I find www.basenotes.net (http://www.basenotes.net) to be an excellent guide, and use it as referrence when picking out new frags to try. When reading the members reviews, I can sometimes get a handle on if something's worth trying or not.
Steve? I noticed the samples you listed. I might suggest a few other 'woody' types to sample, although only you will know how they're gonna hit you. Just from my limited experience, I've come to enjoy those two reorders I mentioned just receiving. I also liked the MPG version of 'Santal Noble', and you might like to try the Comme des Garcons 'Sequoia'.
Good luck on your journey of the schnozz,
Martin

Hey Martin, thanks for the very informative post. I can also blame shaving with my higher awareness of scents. When I tried my Floris shave cream samples, it was all over LOL. I didn't know that things could smell so good.

Oh well..the journey continues :drool
