Is anyone else having trouble finding the Proraso shaving cream in the tube at Target?
My local Target has been out for awhile. I grabbed the last tube at the Target near my in-laws house. I'll be passing another Target on my way home today. So I'll take a look there too.
Anyone else have this problem?

I have noticed that they've been very low in Proraso products, a few balms, and a pre/post or 2 left. (no creams where I looked)
But I don't see this as a problem, as I am officially done with Proraso products. Its all junk.

I don't use it myself. It is for Chris.
I've got the one for now. Hopefully Target will rectify the situation soon.

I was really given another green tube of Proraso shaving cream, now, if I can just dig up the courage to shave with it....

that doesnt mean a thing to me Joe I dont have a degree in chemistry so I wouldnt know if its bad or good same goes for 90% of the other products I buy like facial creams, tooth paste , shampoo, hair gel, what knows what industries are doing to us on the long term.. thats why I tend to go for natural products Speick would be a good alternative to make sure your not using too much chemical stuff on your face. I have stopped drinking tap water and buy mineral water now... even though the water is pretty good here I can never know the level of chlorine and other bad stuff so I pay for the water..... bummer I like the proraso ASB kills for me burn real quick and its just thick enough for me... well there is always Anherb conditioner to replace it then..... so out of that whole list you showed us which is the boogie man of them all ?

Here's a couple standouts:
Clyclomethicone: a silicone compound that can clog pores and cause breakouts (which happens to me with proraso ASB)
...and its the second ingredient behind water.
Parabens: There are FOUR parabens in here....now I'll make an exception if a product has 1 or 2 (methyl and propyl) but this one is loaded. But I prefer not to use any parabens.
There are a myriad of other chemicals in there, (and granted some good stuff too). But there's better products out there, to me this ASB is a chemical bath.
I am anxiously awaiting the Anherb, which I hear are natural products :D

Hey man! You turn me on to this combo, and now you're gonna go and change it on me?! The humanity! :D
Seriously though, I've been thinking of trying a Nivea/AV combo, but just for kicks, not because I care about things like chemical baths.

I doubt the Nivea's ingredients are any better than Proraso's.

Joanna, the Nivea shaving cream in the tubes are made in Europe, and sold everywhere over there. I had a tube of it once, which came from Poland, and I must say the shaves it gave me were super good, but the scent didn't please me at all. The lather was better than Proraso's lather, and the skincare deserves a 10/10 rating, something I can't give Proraso. On the other hand, Proraso is reasonably priced here in Canada, and Nivea turned out to be fairly costly.

Nivea ASB isn't too bad at all, better than the Proraso as far as "questionable" ingredients.
The mentholated version, which contains alcohol, has the least amount of chemicals....but not much of a menthol kick.

Agreed Joe. I have the metholated ASB and it's more like a menthol nudge. ;)

If you have noticed, the SPA area in some Targets has changed aisles. The stock was probably kept low during the reset. If it's not fully stocked, check with the person in charge of ordering for that area. Sometimes the shelves are mis-labeled or the person ordering is not familiar with the product and they don't catch it for months. This information from my son.

try Nuetrogena ASB.....light, mild scent, and doesn't eat up your face after a bad shave...
btw, sorry for the highjack...

Stopped at the Target nearest me on Friday. What was left of Proraso products were marked down for clearance. Picked up the pre/post, shave cream and soap. Went there today and it was all GONE!:( Its spot was filled in with other products.

Yes, apparently Target has decided to stop carrying Proraso products. :(
That seems to be the case nationwide. I've heard rumors that Target might be clearancing out the old Proraso for some new line of products developed by Proraso (advertised as brushless, and has an Italian name, tranlsated as "on the razors edge").
I've seen the packaging for their shaving cream, asb and face bar soap, very "anthony logistics" IMO.
Most of the targets near me are already sold out, but I picked up 4 of the pre/post and the aftershave balm, 1 tub of soap and 2 tubes of cream. Still won't feel comfortable until I get 2 more tubes of cream.
That last target I went to moved the remaining 'raso to an endcap and filled in the vacant section w/more Sharps stuff.
I can understand if they decide to discontinue carrying it in lieu of this new 'raso line. A brushless would probably appeal to the "avg" shaver, besides maybe it's being advertised as brushless but can be used w/a brush like NB. But if they just replace the section w/more Sharps stuff.....that's just disrespectful.:angry019
:signs089 Target if that's the case. Even if it's a "chemical bath" like Traderjoe said. Now I know why most of the stuff I got in our recent trade was au naturale'.
TraderJoe, do you know if the shaving cream and my beloved pre/post are just as bad in the chemical dept? I'm surprised to hear the asb has pore clogging ingredients, it's one of the few I can use W/OUT any problems.

Proraso pre/post, and the cream are both neither better nor worse than your garden variety "high-end" stuff (ie Taylor cream, Trumper Cream, etc etc.) as far as chemicals are concerned.
That said, I don't put any of the above mentioned products anywhere near my skin (especially during shaving [read:exfoliation] where anything you apply is very likely to enter your bloodstream). ;)

Are you referring to a thread w/a subject: exfoliation? If so, can't find it. You sure it's on this forum?
Any way I could get a list of acceptable/all natural products you recommend?
I had a great great shave w/Toms Mint this morning, but I'm not sure about going down the whole all natural route. Unrefined sugar is all natural, but it'll still rot your teeth.

No thread reference, just meant that shaving/exfoliating are one in the same

Sure, I'll compile a list and post a new thread somewhere here. I'll make it very comprehensive, so it'll be worth the wait ;)

I never cared at all until a couple years ago, and I'm not sure what caused my "revolution" against chemicals.....but I still use some allegedly harmful or questionable ingredients, albeit in a MUCH smaller quantity than I would assume the average person.
What I do pay extra-special attention to is things I smear on my body, especially my freshly-shaven face.....and what I eat/consume.

Looking forward to it dude! I'm one of the unfortunate people out there who still gets mild acne from time to time as an adult. Maybe going the granola route (or at least cutting down on the crap) will help out w/it.

Well it not only changed aisles but moved to the end cap and out the door.
Corporate Target made a move, left everyone wondering.
Proraso is coming out with that new line, wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I'd used KMF unscented for years before I started wetshaving. I don't really have sensitive skin (not when it comes to colognes or scents, but I do prefer EO's) but I do have skin that is very prone to ingrowns and pore clogging.
I guess what I'm saying is that my skin doesn't break out in a rash or anything if I use a scented cream, but I do get terrible ingrowns if I use the wrong technique/razor and tend to get clogged pores w/the wrong product. Which surprises me that Proraso ASB hasn't given me any problems yet after Traderjoes post.
So maybe going the all natural route will help a little more w/the hole pore clogging/ingrown thing. I did get a tube of Toms Mint and Toms Calendula in a trade a while back. Hadn't used it until yesterday. Can't speak for the Calendula yet, but the Mint is fantastic! And since I'm trying to change only one thing at a time w/my regimen (had a really nasty bout of skin problems when I start changing too many things at once) I'm finding it blends well the rest of the Proraso products I use (pre/post and liquid ASB).
I'm anxious to try the Calendula, one of my favorite scents.
And, just a note again on the KMF. If you haven't tried the KMF patchouli, you are definitely missing out. My all time fave scent from KMF.

Joshua,
You tried the Tom's Calendula yet? I picked up a tube after reading this thread. Had a go yesterday and ... WOW! This stuff gives a righteous good shave. Very slick and comfortable. The scent is ultra mild and pleasant. It's going to the top of the rotation.
